'Hamas has support in Gaza': Ron DeSantis opens up to Megyn Kelly about why he's against US accepting Palestinian refugees
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently opened up to Megyn Kelly about his stance against allowing refugees from Gaza to enter the US since they have been apparently supporting the militant group Hamas all along.
The 2024 presidential election hopeful also made his stance clear on national television when he appeared on the Fox News program 'Hannity'.
DeSantis stated, "No Gaza refugees, period. It’s a fool's errand to think we can separate a terrorist from a 'freedom love' in Gaza."
Similarly, appearing on 'The Megyn Kelly Show', DeSantis explained that the people in Gaza had "initially elected Hamas" and the militant group has the "support" of the people in Gaza.

Ron DeSantis explains Megyn Kelly his stance on not allowing Gaza refugees in the US
During 'The Megyn Kelly Show', Ron DeSantis claimed, "Hamas has support in Gaza. People in the streets of Gaza were cheering the attacks. That [Hamas] has created a culture where they teach the kids to hate Jews. The textbooks don’t even have Israel. It’s really a toxic culture."
The Florida Gov stated that it would be dangerous to import these ideas to the West, especially America, if they allow refugees from Gaza to enter their border, saying, "The question is do you want to be importing these pathologies from the Middle East into our country."
He then slammed Nikki Haley, stating, "What Nikki Haley is suggesting is somehow you can choose.. you’re Hamas and you don’t come to America and yet these other people that are not, they’re really just freedom lovers."
DeSantis expanded on his explanation and told Kelly that the problem is much deeper as the West and the Arab nations have different definitions of the term "freedom."
He spoke about his time serving in Iraq, and claimed that after serving on the ground, he learned that their definition of freedom wasn’t entirely "democratic freedom" but "meant a government that subscribes to Sharia Law."
"When you were on the ground for probably 48 hours, you realize that their conception of freedom was a lot different than our concept of freedom," said DeSantis.
He continued, "On the ground, a typical Sunni Arab or Shia Muslim, they believe freedom a government that subscribed to Sharia Law or Islamic rule..so just a fundamentally different culture and it's not our role to be trying to import that into the United States."
