'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn finally reveals who his favorite Spider-Man is

Straight out of the bat, James Gunn's favorite Spider-Man is Tom Holland. 

The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director took to Instagram on Saturday where he answered a plethora of questions that included 'The Suicide Squad' and new details from the third installment of 'GoTG'. One of the questions that was asked was who Gunn's favorite web-slinger was, and the fans for some reason hoped it would be Andrew Garfield, but instead, the answer was Tom Holland. 

Garfield had played the part of the friendly neighborhood superhero in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'.  Holland made his MCU debut in 'Captain America: Civil War' where he supported Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) in trying to capture Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) and his team for not signing the Sokovia Accords and helping out the brainwashed Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

Holland subsequently starred in two standalone films, 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' and 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'. 

Last year August, Marvel, and Sony had earlier failed to agree to come to a mutual consensus over licensing and profits with 'Spider-Man'. Disney had asked the co-financing arrangement to be a 50-50 deal between the studios for all future Spider-Man movies, a demand that Sony flatly refused. While they did come back to the table with a few alternatives, Disney wasn't okay with the other offers.

Plus, Sony didn't want to share it's biggest and possibly its best franchise, and Disney was not interested in extending the current deal where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first-dollar gross.

In September, Sony Pictures and Marvel struck a new deal and now will be working on the highly anticipated third film in the 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' series. Marvel Studios co-president Kevin Feige shared, "I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it."

"Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold," reported Variety
