Dr Miranda Bailey is the rock on which 'Grey Sloan Memorial' stands. So when Miranda Bailey is having a meltdown, it's no wonder that it's sending shockwaves throughout the show and its fanbase. In the trailer for the upcoming episode, we see Bailey retreating to a stairwell and simply repeating , "What, what, what?" in utter disbelief.

The episode, of course, deals with the fall out of a 'Black Lives Matters' protest, and we see Phylicia Rashad guest starring in the episode. The episode also centres heavily around Jackson (Jesse Williams) who we see witnesses the protests. But that still doesn't answer what shocked Bailey so much.

While fans have several theories one thing most of them agree on, is that whatever has Bailey shocked, has to be rather monumental. One fan on YouTube said, "When Bailey freaks out you know it's damn serious!"

Some fans were concerned that Bailey's reaction had to with Ben or Tuck coming in harm's way. One fan on YouTube said, "That better not hurt or kill ben bailey has been through enough this season". Another fan on YouTube said, "I wonder if Bailey's reaction has anything to do with her son and the boy they've taken in..."

Other fans felt that Bailey's reaction was due to the number of injuries from the 'Black Lives Matter' protests. One fan on Youtube said, "Baileys reaction is probably to the amount of people in the ER from the protests".

Others feel that Bailey's shock could be Covid related. One fan on YouTube says, "I have a new theory about Bailey - Maybe she tested positive and she escalated so because she infected her friends, family,....🤔"

While these all sound like they could be perfectly plausible explanations for Bailey's shock, others felt that Bailey looked like she had seen a ghost, quite literally. A surprising number of fans wondered whether Bailey had caught a glimpse of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

One fan tweeted, "Could it be him that bailey was freaking out about I want to believe so bad in that or else." Another echoed the sentiment tweeting, "what if she saw Derek!!! (because there are theories that Derek isn’t actually dead) i mean i definitely think she’d react like that." Another fan tweeted, "LMAOO IMAGINE SHES THE FIRST ONE TO SEE HIM “w-what- the hell? SHEPHERD?!”"

While Bailey seeing Derek would definitely make for good TV, it's certainly quite a leap, though by now we've realised the writers on 'Grey's Anatomy' can make anything happen. To find out what it is that has Bailey so shocked on the show, you can tune into the latest episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' on Thursday at 9 pm on ABC.
