'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17: Will Meredith dump DeLuca for Hayes? Ellen Pompeo may have just dropped a hint
For all you steadfast 'Grey's Anatomy' fans, Season 17 has begun filming. Ellen Pompeo, who has played the role of Meredith Grey on the ABC drama for over 15 years, shared a photo with her co-star Richard Flood from the sets. Both of them are wearing their scrubs and a mask and Pompeo shared the message on how the season would be Covid-19 centric, which had already been confirmed by head writer and executive producer Krista Vernoff.
"Since we shut down filming [last March] 7,000 healthcare workers have died from COVID. I dedicate my Season 17 to all who have fallen and to every one of you who by the grace of God is still standing… this season is for you with humility and a bit of humor to get us through and endless amounts of gratitude. I hope we do you proud," Pompeo wrote.
While fans are breathless with anticipation and can't wait for the show to start, the photo might be a bit of a spoiler. Richard plays the role of the stern Cormac Hayes, 'McWidow', as fondly nicknamed by Meredith's best friend Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). There was much hope that he might turn out to be Meredith's love interest, as her current relationship with Andrew DeLuca seems to be...well not great. Andrew and Meredith had a rough time in Season 16, as Andrew felt that Meredith did not respect him enough and then went on a wild spin due to his bipolar disorder. Meredith was the only one who had faith in him and promised to get him help, but it's uncertain whether the two will be able to resurrect their relationship. Sorry folks, this is 'Grey's Anatomy', very rarely do relationships last on this show. The love interests are either killed off or make unceremonial exits (we still haven't forgotten Alex's letter).
Meredith and Andrew had been together for the duration of Season 15 and he's the only one she had confessed loving, after the death of her husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey). Is there hope for MerDeLuca or will the show break our hearts and see Hayes and Meredith ending up together?
Maybe we should just give Meredith a break from all the guy drama. Just saying. 'Grey's Anatomy' is an ABC show and normally airs on Thursdays, 9 pm.
