'Grey’s Anatomy' Season 16: How long will Owen and Teddy’s comfort zone last?
Relationships on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ are usually a tangled and congealed mess, but Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman’s (Kim Ravers) story is rather baffling and bizarre, to say the least. They’ve been ‘best friends’ for a long time, with their partners usually having a thing or two to say about their dynamic. They’ve been with other people and still found a way back to each other. Teddy was away for a while, and then returned pregnant with Owen’s baby. Yes, that happened.
After the kids were born, the two are in a friends-zone with each other and looking after the kids. But how long is this comfort zone going to last? In the next episode itself, Owen is lashing out at ex-girlfriend Amelia for her pregnancy.
Several fans feel that Teddy and Owen's relationship won't last long. "Why do I get the feeling that Teddy's and Owen's relationship is not going to work out? #GreysAnatomy," one tweet read. Another stated, “I still don't want Teddy and Owen together but I'll try.”
Some believe that Owen is still in love with Amelia. “Also if Owen is truly happy with Teddy he shouldn't be having a meltdown over the fact that Amelia is having a child with Link. It's none of his business and if he truly loves Teddy what does it matter?” Others are just happy to see Owen smiling and laughing with Teddy, rather than having toxic fights.
The Teddy-Owen timeline is fraught with much confusion. Their relationship is a bit of a blur, ever since Teddy appeared on the sixth season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and was rather surprised to see her best friend dating Christina Yang (Sandra Oh). There were several Owen-Teddy conflicts like when Teddy tried to make Owen choose her over Christina, or when Teddy married a patient so that he could have health insurance. She then told Owen to fight for Christina, because, she’s a martyr too. Then there was the big Megan Hunt drama, as she was presumed dead.
However, of course, she wasn’t, and Teddy brought her home. Owen was married to Amelia by this time, and Teddy seemed to have moved on. But of course, do they ever? Owen turned up at Teddy’s house after the break-up with Amelia, and Teddy told him that she isn’t his consolation prize.
