'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 Episode 8: Fans hail Meredith Grey for blasting man responsible for Derek's death
It has been almost five years, but like Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), fans still haven't been able to come to terms with Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) death on 'Grey's Anatomy.' From their turbulent dating to their post-its wedding, Derek and Meredith's love story was the heart of the show. However, Derek was killed off in a catastrophic car accident in the eleventh season of the show. After slowly picking up the pieces, Meredith is finally moving on with Andrew DeLuca, though that be on the rocks for the moment.
In the latest episode, Meredith faces trial as she had committed insurance fraud to save a patient. And on the panel of judges, sits the very doctor, who had treated Derek that night and had refused to give him a CT scan. A furious Meredith lashes out after he brings up her children during scrutiny, getting thumbs up from fans. This outburst results in him getting a seizure and eventually dying on the operating table.
Flashbacks of Derek dying wasn't easy to watch for fans, who seemed to be in an emotional twist after the episode. Some hailed Meredith for yelling at the doctor as well.
One wrote, "Meredith grey going off on the man that killed derek shepherd is one of the most powerful scenes in grey’s anatomy."
Another tweeted, "This episode of #GreysAnatomy has me missing Derek Shepherd all over again."
One wrote, "MEREDITH GREY STANDING UP FOR DEREK, OK. OK!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!"
Some other fans were not entirely sorry when the doctor died. "Oh Derek's killer is dead," one wrote.
Another tweeted, "the doctor that killed derek died."
All said and done, Meredith won the case. However, her relationship with Andrew DeLuca is on the rocks, as he believes that she doesn't respect him the same way she cared for Derek.
'Grey's Anatomy' aired on ABC on November 14.
