'Grey's Anatomy' season 16: MerLuca is here to stay, but Meredith Grey might lose her license

The big question is: Will Meredith Grey lose her license in the wake of insurance fraud she committed?
PUBLISHED SEP 27, 2019

The first episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' put things into perspective as Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) turned herself in and helped Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) be cleared of all charges. At the hearing, Meredith was asked, "You're a partial owner of Grey Sloan. So why commit insurance fraud? Why not just pay for the surgery or do it for free?"

With a pinch of honesty and wit, Meredith made it clear that the little girl is suffering from cancer and needs hundreds of thousands of dollars over a period of time. "I didn't think her proud, father would accept charity from me. And I didn't think he should have to. The system should have protected them. And the system is broken." She was let off and her jail time was converted into community service. It seems like things did not turn as ugly as one would expect them to be. However, as Meredith shares a lighthearted chat with Andrew in the final scene, she confesses that there might be some action taken against her license.

So, the big question is: Will Meredith lose her license in the wake of insurance fraud she committed? The summary for episode two reads: "Outside the hospital, Meredith's recent firing doesn't stop her from diagnosing those around her."

That's quite a big clue as to what's in store for Meredith's future. Obviously, the folks at Grey Sloan Hospital miss her, but it seems she is not returning any time soon. In the trailer clip, there is a scene where Meredith is holding her own makeshift clinic. It seems like Meredith might let go of her position at the hospital in an attempt to help the needy by making use of her skills even if she has no license for it. But, for how long?

While things may seem a tad bit tousled at the professional end, Meredith's love life seems to be in perfect sync. Are wedding bells ringing soon for the couple? Only time can tell. For now, we can safely say their romance is going farther than fans may have imagined. As the next episode releases next Thursday on October 3 on ABC, it will hopefully give more insight into where exactly the couple wishes to take their relationship.
