'Grey's Anatomy' is going on a downtrodden path. With repetitive storylines and forced character arcs, there is no joy in watching the medical-drama that was once among the most-cherished shows. If that was not all, Justin Chambers' sudden exit dampened all hopes.

For a long time now, viewers have been wondering how Alex Karev's story will be wrapped up. Will the showrunners give him the farewell he deserves? Seems like their wishes will come true with Episode 16 titled 'Leave a Light On'.

With a heartwarming flashback episode that brings back memories of Karev and all the original interns, 'Grey's Anatomy' will say the final goodbye. The summary reads, "Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Ben Warren (Jason George) face a huge, life-altering decision, while Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and several of the doctors reflect on the past."

In a 36-second promo, Meredith tells Karev, "There were five of us, now it's just you and I... and it can't be just me." The dialogue certainly makes hearts twitch because now it's just Meredith left in the show. As the song 'Say Something (I'm Sorry That I Couldn't Get to You)' plays in the background, there are more flashbacks of Karev with all other doctors.

With such an emotional twist, viewers can't stop wondering if his character will be killed off. And the tagline, "See how his story ends," is all the more disheartening. One viewer posted, "I think killing him is the right move right now. He would never ghost Jo and Mer, something wrong must have happened. And finally no stupid crossover!"

Many emotional fans are already teary-eyed. One wrote, "I haven't even seen the episode and I am already bawling my eyes out. I'm not ready to say goodbye." Another commented, "There has to be more to the story. It doesn't make sense for him to abandon Jo and Mer after years and years of developing his character. Killing off his character is the only way to do it. It will give us the perfect emotional goodbye he/we deserve."

The next episode will air on March 5 at 9 pm ET on ABC.
