'Grey's Anatomy' cast celebrates season 15 with a weekend-long pop-up art exhibit

Teaming up PopSugar and THNK1994, ABC probably gave one of the best tributes to the approaching season by taking a walk down memory lane through art.

There can be no better way to celebrate the 15th season of the show which is now being led by probably the highest paid actress in a prime-time drama, and the cast of ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' knows just how to do it right. Just when Ellen Pompeo, who is now considered to be TV's $20 million lady, has hinted at the possibility of her quitting the show, probably after season 16, the cast celebrated the record-breaking 15th season at the opening night event of a special, weekend-long exhibit in West Hollywood on Thursday, September 20.

Teaming up with PopSugar and THNK1994, the pop-up exhibit paid tribute to some of the most iconic moments throughout the show’s journey while leaving fans eager for what is to come. Open to the public from September 21-23, the exhibit- named 'Anatomy of an Icon: 15 Seasons of Grey's'- featured fine art and engaging installations to not only celebrate past moments in the show but to also create a global opportunity to discuss the pillars of the show. PopSugar notes that the exhibition had several installations of some of the most memorable moments from the show: "Think life-size artwork of some of the show's sexier cast members, a painting of that oh-so-romantic elevator proposal, and light installations of phrases like 'you're my person'. "

Looks like in order to celebrate the Season of Love, just the right duo was approached to pick up the task. THNK1994 museum founders Matt Harkins and Viviana Olen have mentioned that the visitors would see "things you remember, [and] re-experience it and experience it in a whole new way, and it’s going to be really, really fun." The duo -whose bond over a mutual obsession with the Tonya Harding documentary, 'The Price of Gold', and the controversial 1994 Winter Olympics, gave birth to the Tonya Harding Nancy Kerrigan 1994 Museum (a.k.a. THNK1994)- had eventually managed to choose under 20 pieces of art to display at the exhibition.

The artworks were done by Laura Collins, Derek Covington Smith, and Miriam Carothers, all three of whom agreed that the artworks were inspired by the characters who were extremely compelling as subjects. Regarding Pompeo, who plays the protagonist, Meredith Grey, Carothers said, "Ellen Pompeo is fascinating! She’s the definition of a strong woman who uses her voice for good. Sandra Oh has also been one of my favorite actresses since I first saw her on 'Grey’s Anatomy' in 2005. I think the diversity of the cast was refreshing in the show’s beginning and set the tone for how all casting should be done."

'Grey’s Anatomy' returns with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, September 27 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.
