Greta Thunberg posed for a photograph with her beloved pet dogs Moses and Roxy as she celebrated her return to Sweden.

Flanked by her golden retriever and black Labrador at Stockholm's harbor on December 17 morning, the 16-year-old climate activist captioned the picture writing, "Home!"

Ever since setting sail to the UN conference in New York in August this year, Thunberg has been on a continent-spanning climate campaign before being named TIME magazine's 'Person of the Year' earlier this month.

Thunberg started her voyage to America back in Aug. 2019 in order to attend climate conferences in New York City and Chile.

But the teen eco-warrior had a rocky journey home. Thunberg shared a photo of herself sitting on the floor of a German train before she became embroiled in a Twitter spat over the weekend.

In a sardonic reaction to her apparent complaint about "overcrowding", Deutsche Bahn defended itself saying Thunberg had been upgraded to first class in compensation.

"Traveling on overcrowded trains through Germany. And I’m finally on my way home!" Thunberg tweeted on Saturday.

However, DB had a rather stinging reply for the climate crusader.

"Dear #Greta, thank you for supporting us railroad workers in the fight against climate change! We were pleased that you were on the ICE (Inter City Express) 74 with us on Saturday. And with 100 percent green electricity," they wrote. "It would have been even nicer if you had also reported how friendly and competent you were looked after by our team at your seat in first class."

Thunberg was satisfied with the response.

"Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen, I got a seat. This is no problem of course and I never said it was," she replied. "Overcrowded trains is a great sign because it means the demand for train travel is high!"

In subsequent follow-up tweets that included a press release, DB added that Greta's travel companions were placed "in first-class from Frankfurt onwards".

The online skirmish came just hours after she gave a speech at an impassioned climate protest in Turin, Italy, where she threatened to "put world leaders against the wall" if they continued ignoring the climate crisis.

But she later apologized for her comments, claiming that an innocuous Swedish phrase had been lost in translation.

"Yesterday I said we must hold our leaders accountable and unfortunately said, 'put them against the wall'. That's Swenglish: 'att ställa någon mot väggen' (to put someone against the wall) means to hold someone accountable. That's what happens when you improvise speeches in a second language," Thunberg wrote.

"But of course, I apologize if anyone misunderstood this. I cannot enough express the fact that I — as well as the entire school strike movement — are against any possible form of violence. It goes without saying but I say it anyway," she added.
