'Grand Hotel' star Anne Winters teases new role in 'The Orville', says getting bigger roles feels empowering

After plugs were pulled on Eva Longoria's 'Grand Hotel', Anne Winters talks about her journey and relationship with the actress-producer-director. She also talks of how #Metoo affected her career.

Popular for its controversies, web series '13 Reasons Why' is taking actress Anne Winters places already. But it all started when she was a child. Winters has always been so bold and confident about herself. At the tender age of four, she performed in her first musical production and at the age of ten, she delivered her first solo performance to a crowd of 24,000 at the American Airlines Center. It's like she was born to be the star that she is today.

Recently, Winters appeared in Eva Longoria's 'Grand Hotel' playing the role of Ingrid. Although plugs were pulled on the show, she had some interesting things to say about her character in the TV show.

Eva Longoria attends the Eva Longoria Foundation Gala at Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on November 15, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

In an interview with MEA World Wide (MEAWW) at the Red Carpet at Eva Longoria Foundation Gala, she spoke first about her experience working with Eva Longoria. She said, "Oh my god, Eva really just showed me that you can be one of the top women in Hollywood and still be so friendly and nice, and just everyone like they're your best friends." Winters said she admired the way Eva Longoria embodied such a humble personality whilst being a top-notch celebrity.

Since the TV show 'Grand Hotel' is not coming back anytime soon, Winters's favorite memory from the show was when Eva had the cast come home and watch the episodes with her. "We would be hanging out with her dog and she would always have food there and we just hung out with her for hours after we finished watching 'The Bachelor' together. It was really fun", Anne recalls.  During the production of the 'Grand Hotel', Anne and Eva became really good friends.

Out of fan-fiction manifestation, on being asked by MEAWW, if somebody else decided to pick up the now-dead TV show 'Grand Hotel', how different or same would Ingrid's character be, Winters said her character needed to learn from the mistakes of the past. "Maybe, she would not be a maid anymore, or she would do something else in the hotel," she said.

As of now, Winters has joined the cast of 'The Orville.' She is vocal about her enthusiasm to work with the show's creator, MacFarlane. Winters says, "I have always wanted to work with Seth MacFarlane. I think he is a genius."

She is indeed excited to play a role that is super different from all the ones she has played in the past. She says, "I play the role of this girl who is a badass navigator and works on a spaceship! It is something so different from anything I've done before. I can't say too much, but she's definitely unique and different from any other thing I've ever played!"

Having been in the industry for a while, especially during the #Metoo campaign, things may have changed for her and the way she is being treated in the industry. Winters feels like she has started getting bigger roles, especially in her twenties. "For me, I don't think I saw as much of a shift because I was playing high school girl, and the girl next door kind of roles for a long time. So, I am glad that I am coming into this generation and have these girl worlds that are super strong and super empowering. I just love it."

Catch the new season of 'The Orville' on Hulu in 2020 and watch Anne Winters be a badass that she really is!
