Tessica Brown might have gotten out of a sticky situation, quite literally, with the help of crowdfunding. But it looks like there are some people out there who are willing to cash in on the misery of others.

According to the latest reports, an imposter tried to benefit from Brown's Gorilla Glue misfortune by posting a GoFundMe page pretending to be her. A $186,000 hospital bill was attached to the plea that sought $25,000.

Filed on February 24, 2021, the imposter took to the GoFundMe page to write, "Please help me with my hospital bills. Once the doctors and hospitals thought I was getting money off of the other GoFundMe they decided to charge me! Please help. I don't have this kind of money."

Using half-facts

As a post-script, the imposter added on the fake GoFundMe, "(The money I have leftover from the other GoFundMe will be used. However, it is not much because I already donated half of it)!"

The real Tessica Brown had earlier reportedly said that the company was not allowing her to withdraw the funds. The real Brown's intention was to use the money for her treatment and help with buying wigs but since the Ghanian doctor, Dr Michael Obeng, treated her for free, she decided to donate the funds. "They won't even release it to me because that many people have called and said it was a fraudulent account. Every time you look at it, it says it's under investigation," the real Brown told The Post during a Zoom interview at the time when the site wasn't releasing the money. She explained, "I'm like we can donate to Dr Obeng… and the rest of that I'm going to donate it to three families in St Bernard Parish." Brown reportedly wanted to donate $20,000 to Obeng's charity as she received more than $23,000 through fundraising.

But the imposter never managed to cash in on Brown's plight. As it turns out, GoFundMe reportedly suspended the account the minute they got to know about it. Reports claim that the account was fishy, to begin with as the goal of the page was only $25,000 when the photo of the bill attached showed almost $200,000.

A warning issued by Tessica

According to the latest report in TMZ, Gina Rodriguez, Tessica's manager, said, "...she's seen several fake Twitter and GoFundMe pages trying to piggyback off Tessica. She warns, if you see on, DO NOT donate because Tessica doesn't need money -- she's going well now, thanks to deals and her daycare and dance biz ventures".

This comes after another girl named Avani Reyes "accidentally" sprayed Gorilla Glue on her hair. She uploaded several videos on her TikTok about her situation. "I need to go to the hospital so they can remove this Gorilla Glue. I have no idea what to do. I tried washing it. It doesn't come off," she said in one of her videos. Another video of her showed her shaking and on the verge of breaking down.
