Woman caught on Google Maps standing in the exact same spot TWICE in a decade
CARLISLE, ENGLAND: A woman was shocked to see herself caught on camera in the exact same spot twice in a decade. Leane Cartwright came across a Google Maps snapshot of herself standing at a street crossing clutching a bag.
The 41-year-old initially thought it had received a teasing email from her husband to show how Google caught her on camera back in April 2009. However, she was "flabbergasted" when she realized she'd appeared in the exact same spot in another snap nine years later.

In the first image, Leanne is seen standing at a traffic crossing on the corner of Victoria Place with a carrier bag on her left arm and another bag over her shoulder. The second shot, captured in August 2018, shows her standing on the exact same paving slab while holding two bags in the same style. The only difference was her outfit.

The civil servant, from Carlisle, Cumbia, reportedly posted the images to Facebook earlier this month. She joked that she is being called a "time traveler" due to the "one-in-a-billion" coincidence. "It's like I'm frozen in time," Leanne wrote on September 12. "I'm standing on exactly the same paving slab and I've still got a bag on my shoulder. It's so funny but so bizarre. People probably think I'm a time traveler. I could be the only person in the world who they've caught in exactly the same place almost a decade later. I did see the car the first time, so when it got published we went on and had a look. Everyone thought it was quite funny and I didn't mind at all."
"Richard found the second one while he was at work because he was looking for the first one," she continued, referring to her husband. "He was going to send it to me and then he realized I was back on it. When I saw it, I thought it was really bizarre. I hadn't even seen the car at the time, so I was flabbergasted. We told everyone at work and they found it funny. I thought I'd put it on Facebook because I don't know anyone else it's happened to." Leanne added, "I've had loads of likes. Someone mentioned about me being a time traveler. It's been funny reading the reactions. I'll be looking out for the car in the future and if I see it, I'll have to jump in the same spot. You never know, I might be there next time. It'll make me smile when I walk past."

Leanne said the first image was taken while she was walking to work at around 8 am. The second one, which was taken while she was on a lunchtime break, was later discovered by her husband in January 2019. She couldn't make an appearance on the most recent Google Street View shot in September 2020 as she was working remotely during the pandemic, but is now back to working two days a week in the office. She noted that the uncanny coincidence will make her smile "every time she walks over the crossing." Describing herself as a "creature of habit," Leanne said she would ensure she isn't wearing any of the clothes she wore in the first image, joking that the comparison showed how her personal fashion had evolved since 2009, the Daily Mail reported.
