Good Deeds Day is celebrated every year on a specific Sunday in April; this year it is April 16. This day aims to encourage people to do their best for their community in whatever way they can. No matter what you think is right, you can volunteer, make a charitable donation or help locals.

The goal is to improve one's neighborhood and help others, to spread kindness and compassion. The recipients of charity never forget it. Share some love on this occasion.

History of Good Deeds Day

Shari Arison, an Israeli entrepreneur, and philanthropist born in the United States created Good Deeds Day. She established this vacation in 2007 to set an example for others.

Good Deeds Day is a global effort to bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots by helping those who cannot help themselves. It is a great service to humanity. The day raises awareness of the charity and community development, reports National Today.

5 things to do to spread positivity

Here are five activities you can do on Good Deeds Day to spread positivity in your community.

1. Host a charity: Ask your co-workers and supervisors for non-perishable items to donate to a good cause. Donate small amounts of soap, shampoo, deodorant and other items to organizations that could use them.

2. Act of apology: Put aside your pride and express regret for every wrong deed, no matter how small.

3. Be kind: Give a double portion of something delicious that can be frozen to an elderly neighbor who no longer cooks for himself. Give your used jars to a charity so they can be reused.

4. Educate kids: Participate in a literacy program to teach reading to children or adults.

5. Save water: When shaving, brushing your teeth, or doing the dishes, turn off the tap since every drop counts.
