Golden Globes 2021: John Boyega wins Best Supporting Actor on TV for 'Small Axe', fans say 'it's about time'

The 78th Golden Globes awards have yet again piqued everyone's interest with its lineup of nominations under various categories as people eagerly wait to see which one of their favorite actors or television show bags the maximum awards. The event is taking place virtually on February 28, with Tina Frey and Amy Poehler serving as hosts from two different locations. 

Thanks to the many television shows that kept us going for months in a row, especially during the lockdown, there was a lot discussed about television actors who made an impression in supporting roles. The nominations under the category for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role included John Boyega for 'Small Axe', Brendon Gleeson for 'The Comey Rule', Daniel Levy for 'Schitt's Creek', Jim Parsons for 'Hollywood' and 'Donald Sutherland' for 'The Undoing'.

The award was taken home by none other than Jon Boyega for 'Small Axe' and his fans couldn't have been happier. One tweeted, "SO DESERVED I LOVE HIM #GoldenGlobes @JohnBoyega" Another added, "I didn’t even care this year until I saw John Boyega. Give him all the awards. Please." Adding to the previous tweets, another excited fan tweeted, "John Boyega winning for #SmallAxe is just the perfect way to start the night!" One fan tweeted, "You know when someone that you didn't predict wins, but you're thrilled to be wrong? Yeah that's me with John Boyega and Daniel Kaluuya winning.  #GoldenGlobes " And another fan wrote, "I can’t express how proud i am of john boyega. keep recognising and appreciating him he is extremely talented and deserved this 100%". One happy fan wrote : 'It's about time! God bless John Boyega'.

Apart from various winning categories, Golden Globes 2021 will also be honoring Jane Fonda with Cecil B deMille Award and Norman Lear with Carol Burnett Award. Children of Spike Lee, Satchel Lee and Jackson Lee will be serving as the 2021 Golden Globe Ambassadors. 

The official 2021 Golden Globe Awards was telecasted on February 28 at 8 pm ET and the pre-show was streamed live from the official @GoldenGlobes Twitter account and on the website goldenglobes.com at 6.30 pm ET
