'Gold Rush: White Water' Season 3 Episode 2 preview: Will Dustin manage to find his share of gold to defeat Fred?

In the promo, we also see bears. In the first episode, while the crew saw no bears they did find their equipment bitten to shreds by these apex predators in Alaska. In the coming episode, however, we just might see these bears in action.

Episode 1 of 'Gold Rush: White Water' season 3 was a mixed bag of sorts. On the one hand, Dustin Hurt was disappointed not once, but twice because of the sites he chose. On the other hand, Fred, his 75-year-old father managed to strike gold in the first week itself.

But going ahead, things would be different. In the promos for episode 2, we see Dustin finding not just some, but a lot of gold. Wess, his diver, and friend, in fact, claimed that this was the most they had ever found. So it is certain that Dustin's luck would gradually change. But what of sour relations?

In episode 1, we saw Dustin get into a fight with Paul, his best friend, over Kayla being there. Kayla, as we know, is not only Dustin's stepsister but also Paul's fiancée. Things soured between them enough for Paul to decide that he would spend his gold hunting season not with Dustin but with his father 'Dakota' Fred Hurt. Will Dustin be able to patch things up with Paul? It seems unlikely, at least for the time being. Dustin, as viewers of the documentary series know, is not just short-tempered, but also stubborn. For Dustin to admit that he made a mistake and acted in an immature fashion is a bit much to expect.

On the other hand, Dustin (along with Carlos and Wess) is currently without any claims and of course, without a single fleck of gold. It would be wise for him to make amends. After all, he needs all the help he can to defeat his dad.

In the promo, we also see bears. In the first episode, while the crew saw no bears they did find their equipment bitten to shreds by these apex predators in Alaska. In the coming episode, however, we just might see these bears in action. Dustin can even be seen handing someone called James a gun, saying, "Bears can definitely kill you."

So not only is the terrain out there to get them — the creeks and the falls and the slopes — but there are wild animals too who can shred them to bits with just one swipe of their paws. Things only keep getting more exciting.

‘Gold Rush: White Water’ airs on The Discovery Channel every Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.
