Godsmack's 'Unforgettable' music video with 400 school rockers is the most awesome track you'll see today
Legendary hard rock band Godsmack has managed to make an unforgettable work of art with the help of some talented high school children from the United States.
On April 8, the band unveiled their new music video for the song 'Unforgettable' off their upcoming album 'When Legends Rise' out on April 27. What made the music video truly memorable was the fact that Godsmack recruited over 400 school children for the making of the video, which took over two years to complete.
Nowadays, most high schools in the US either don't have a substantial music budget or have had to put their music programs at risk in order to serve the needs of their students.
With this in mind, it was really important for Godsmack band members — Sully Erna (vocals, guitar), Tony Rombola (guitar), Robbie Merrill (bass) and Shannon Larkin (drums) — to make a video about the power of music and its ability to uplift lives.
Considering all of them were keen on giving back to the community, they invited over 400 aspiring young musicians from schools all over New England to join them at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, for their new video shoot.
The 'Unforgettable' video, directed by Noah Berlow, is the fitting culmination of a two-year-long process. It started with the recording of the 'Unforgettable' track itself when 20 students joined Godsmack in the studio to provide vocals on the chorus.
The same students were also invited to perform the song live on stage with the band at their show in Gilford, NH, on August 22, 2018. Then earlier this year, Godsmack returned to Gilbert H Hood Middle School and enlisted students to rehearse with them the day before the 'Unforgettable' video shoot to prepare them for the filming.
As part of the band's visit, vocalist Sully Erna talked to the students about his inspiring life story, including the challenges he faced blending in with his peers and how music saved him. Erna also encouraged aspiring musicians present to continue pursuing their dreams.
"We took these middle school students on a two-year-long journey to show them how important music truly is to us all," Sully Erna said.
"Throughout 2018, we continued to include these kids in all aspects of the process by teaching them the song, including them [in] our world tour, inviting them to perform with us, taking them to NYC to further educate them on the business side of the music industry, talking to them about the gift of music, and ultimately inviting them to shoot their first official music video with the band."
