Ghislaine Maxwell says Bill Clinton never visited Jeffrey Epstein's island, calls Virginia Roberts' claim a 'lie'
Ghislaine Maxwell has revealed that Bill Clinton never visited Jeffrey Epstein's island but did use his private jet, newly released documents reveal.
During a 2016 deposition, Maxwell had said that the rape accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre is "1,000 percent" lying regarding Clinton visiting the Caribbean Island. Giuffre had said in a deposition that Clinton had in fact visited Little Saint James and Epstein had laughed at his presence saying, "he owes me a favor", The Independent reports.
Court documents that detailed out Maxwell's relationship with Epstein related to a civil defamation lawsuit by Giuffre were unsealed and also made public on Thursday, October 22. Maxwell had tried very hard to make sure to keep the transcript from four years ago as a secret.
She has also denied allegations which state that she had helped Epstein lure and groom underage girls in illegal sex acts during the mid-1990s. Maxwell said, "Again, Virginia is absolutely, totally lying. This is a subject of defamation about Virginia and the lies she has told and one of the lies she told was that President Clinton was on the island where I was present. Absolutely 1,000 percent that is a flat out total fabrication and lie."
Initially, names had been redacted during the questioning but Clinton's identity was revealed after Maxwell had named him in her responses to deny that he had ever been on the island. However, she was able to confirm that Clinton had flown on Epstein's plane but did not go into the nature of their relationship.
In one of the key exchanges, Maxwell was asked, "You did fly on planes, Jeffrey Epstein's planes with president Clinton, is that correct?" to which she responded saying, "I have flown, yes." She asked whether they were friends or acquaintances or if Epstein allowed Clinton to use the plane.
Maxwell replied saying that she "wouldn't be able to categorize" them as friends and "couldn't categorize" the relationship. She was also unable to recall whether they had been friendly. Maxwell was also seen at Chelsea Clinton's wedding which was brought into question as part of a 2015 civil case.
Maxwell said that she had not been deposed in an earlier case in 2009 and had been caring for her mother who was ill before returning to the US for Chelsea's wedding. A source revealed that Maxwell had shared, "I attended [redacted] wedding but I don't know if I came back specifically for that or not."
A spokesman for Clinton, Angel Ureña, had denied the allegations that he had ever visited the island in a statement to Newsweek in July. Urena said that Clinton has "never been to Little St James Island". "He'd not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade. Well before his terrible crimes came to light."
We had earlier reported that Maxwell’s sordid sex life will no longer be a secret as a court has ruled to make public "highly intrusive" documents from Epstein's deposition. The documents reportedly include new details of her sex life, which were originally filed by Epstein victim Virginia Roberts as part of a lawsuit against Maxwell in 2015. The British socialite was sued by Roberts, now Giuffre, five years ago for calling her a liar.
