Ghislaine Maxwell changed homes at least 36 times since Epstein's mysterious death, wore mask to hide identity

In the past year, Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly moved at least 36 times across the country and kept a low profile by wearing coronavirus masks before she was eventually arrested last week. According to The Sun, the British socialite and media heiress began her journey from the West Coast and made stops in Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado before ending up in New Hampshire, where she was apprehended. “Ghislaine has been constantly on the move throughout the last year,” a source told the outlet. “She would stay in properties for a few days or a week.”

Maxwell appears to have gone on the lam after pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, her former boyfriend, died under suspicious circumstances in a Manhattan prison last August. Between then and her July 2 arrest, Maxwell moved homes at least three times each month, The Sun's source claimed.

The former socialite, in the meanwhile, spent most of her time working out and reading. Authorities found a book on Epstein's accusers by their lawyer Bradley Edwards on Maxwell's bedside during her arrest. “She did go out, but not often," the source continued. “Obviously, with the coronavirus, people were wearing masks — it made things easier for her.”

Officials, who had been tracking her movements, recently learned she had moved to a 156-acre estate in Bradford, NH, that she bought in December. Prosecutors said in an initial memo seeking Maxwell's detention that she was “hiding out” in various locations in New England and had made efforts to stay under the radar, like registering a new phone number under the name "G Max." However, the source insisted Maxwell was not trying to evade federal authorities but was running from reporters. Last week, her defense attorneys made the same argument to assert she was not a flight risk and deserved to be granted bond.

“She was never running from the feds,” the source said. “She was running from journalists and crazy people who wanted to kill her.”

“It was a serious problem. Her location was on a need-to-know basis," they added.

Maxwell, according to the report, even hired a professional security firm after being inundated with a barrage of death threats. She is currently remanded in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and is expected to be arraigned on sex-trafficking charges Tuesday. The daughter of late British media mogul Robert Maxwell and a longtime close associate of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell is accused of facilitating his crimes and often participating in the abuse, according to the indictment against her. Maxwell has been described by a number of Epstein's victims as his chief enabler, who roped in young girls for him to abuse. So far, she has denied any wrongdoing and called the allegations against her "absolute rubbish."

A team of federal agents arrested the British media heiress at her $1 million estate in New Hampshire last week. Investigators said they had been tracking her movements all along and knew she had been hiding out in various locations in New England.
