In this time of the pandemic, people around the world including celebrities are practicing self-isolation to help prevent further spread of COVID-19. The author of  'Game of Thrones' George RR Martin is also following the instructions of the government as he self-quarantines himself.

However, the creator of the fantasy drama has not cut himself off from his fans as he gives them updates through his blogs on his website, georgerrmatin.com. In his recent blog post, named Strange Days, the 71-year-old novelist has hinted that he may finally finish ‘Winds Of Winter’ as he is writing more while spending alone time amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“For those of you who may be concerned for me personally...yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition.  But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going into town or seeing anyone.

“Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here,” Martin wrote in the post.

He continued that somedays while watching news, he feels like “we all are now living in a science fiction novel.” “But not, alas, the sort of science fiction novel that I dreamed of living in when I was a kid, the one with the cities on the Moon, colonies on Mars, household robots programmed with the Three Laws, and flying cars.  I never liked the pandemic stories half so well…”

“Let us hope we all come through this safe and sound. Stay well, my friends. Better to be safe than sorry,” advised the writer as he ended his post.

In his blog post, Martin has also updated about his other ventures as he wrote, “Meow Wolf is closed.”

“I am also closing the Jean Cocteau Cinema. I am also shutting down my non-profit, the Stagecoach Foundation, for the duration. Stagecoach customarily holds classes and workshops in various aspects of film and television production, for kids aspiring to have careers in the entertainment industry, but we won’t be having any while the coronavirus is still raging,” he stated while mentioning that he will continue to pay the employees at Stagecoach and the Jean Cocteau, for the foreseeable future.

Martin also added that his bookstore, Beastly Books, will be open for the time being as it “never has more than a handful of customers at any one time.” The mail-order service for the bookstore will also remain open because he believes “reading is the best way to pass the empty hours.”
