LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's latest release, 'Geek Girl', transports viewers to the fashion industry, where a seemingly nerdy student finds herself grappling with the dazzles of the fashion business.
The rom-com drama, directed by Declan O'Dwyer, is based on Holly Smale's novel of the same name and follows the life of Harriet Manners (Emily Carey), an apparently geeky girl who is given an unexpected opportunity to be a fashion model.
As Harriet decides to accept the invitation to be a model, her effort to balance her life takes its toll on her, and she explodes during a fashion show. However, things take a dramatic turn when Wilbur Evans (Emmanuel Imani) arrives at her home and convinces her to make a comeback.
With the support of her family and friends, Harriet finally gets into her glam mode and resolves to make a return on the runway, but will she be able to spread her magic like before?
Harriet Manners confronts Jude Paignton in 'Geek Girl'
Wearing Nat Grey's (Rochelle Harrington) attire, Harriet and Wilbur make a stunning entrance into the Bascar event. When she arrives at the event, she notices Jude Paignton (Sarah Parish) on the red carpet, giving an interview and boasting about herself.
Rather than pretending to be on cordial terms, Harriet bravely states in front of the camera that she and Jude detest each other and are unable to tolerate each other.
Her revelation humiliates Jude, who is fired by Yuji Lee (Sandra Yi Sencindiver), and, adding to her injuries, Betty (Hebe Beardsall) also announces her resignation.
Harriet Manners freezes on the ramp in 'Geek Girl'
After earning a spot for herself on the rampwalk, unbeknownst to Harriet, Poppy Hepple-Cartwright (Daisy Jelley) pastes a paper with the word Geek written on her back.
Harriet, who is obviously unaware of this, engages in a discussion with Yuji, who hands up her missing necklace and displays her own piece of jewelry, saying that just like Harriet, she also needs something to hold her together.
Harriet arrives on the rampwalk and is immediately met with whispers and nicknames, calling her 'geek,' as stated on the sign.
This naturally unsettles her, and she freezes in place, however, unexpectedly, she finds courage and comes to terms with her status as a geek.
As she walks confidently on the ramp, she makes eye contact with Nick Park (Liam Woodrum), who takes down the poster, and the two begin kissing on the ramp in front of the audience, much to everyone's delight.
The show concludes with Harriet, Nick, and Wilbur emerging from an underground train station when Harriet notices her digital billboards. Wilbur leaves, and the series finishes with Harriet and Nick kissing.
