'Garth and Trisha LIVE!': Couple's live concert leaves fans swooning and teary-eyed, they already want another
As the 'Garth and Trisha LIVE!' show gave people a much-needed reprieve from the everyday gloom of being cooped up at home and quarantined to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, fans hopped on Twitter to share just how much they adored Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood's healing live concert.
CBS, who hosted the live stream of the couple's at-home live concert, asked fans, "How long have YOU been a fan of @garthbrooks and @trishayearwood?"
One fan responded, "My first cassette tape... still have it," while another said "Looong time. I had a Garth Brooks pillow case in middle school..." before adding, "#GarthAndTrishaLIVE was the medicine I didn’t know I needed tonight!"
Others shared some beautifully heartwarming messages for Brooks. One fan said, "I've been a Garth fan since I was 10 months old and I'm going to be 26 this month. Garth is my hero. His music has gotten me through a lot. I am truly grateful," while another tweeted, "Always love seeing you guys live! This means loads to me. Been a fan of both ya'll since the 90s! Garth's been my #1 forever, you are why I first started to like country music, around 7 years old! <3"
The live stream also included 'To Make You Feel My Love', a song that both Brooks and Yearwood covered separately for the soundtrack of the 1998 film 'Hope Floats', and fans were left swooning. "Thank you for playing make you feel my love. It always makes me cry also. I'm 47 and I've been a fan since each of you put out your 1st singles. Just love both of you to death," tweeted one user, while another said, "Hearing @garthbrooks sing to make you feel my love to @trishayearwood is the best thing Ive ever heard. #RecordThat"
Many fans couldn't help but gush about how wholesome the couple are, tweeting "Can I be best friends with @garthbrooks and @trishayearwood please? They seem like the kindest people ever. Loving this private concert in my bedroom!" Another user said, "Hey, Garth and Trisha! Your show was AMAZING! We smiled the whole time. It is so good to see such love between you two right now while we are all isolating."
Fan requests continued to pour in throughout the live stream, and even after! "Hi guys! Please play The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert," asked one fan. One fan asked Brooks, "please play the thunder rolls / it’s my favorites yours" while another had a request for Yearwood, "Trisha request.....any possibility of singing Strawberry Wine?"
Some viewers wanted to honour greats like Joe Diffie who we lost recently, asking "How about Joe Diffie Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox or Ships that Come In" while others wanted to send their loved ones some messages, such as this user who tweeted an image of their family and said, "this household is requesting Two of a kind, Workin on a Full House. Missing our sister, the last part to our full house, as she’s in California and we’re in Colorado."
Many sent messages of love and gratitude towards the couple as the live stream came to an end. "Thank you from the bottom of America’s heart. We love you," tweeted one user. "Thank you so so much @garthbrooks & @trishayearwood for spending your evening w/ all of US. Love it," tweets another, adding "This is exactly what we need tonight! Thanks y'all!"
Following the show, Brooks and Yearwood both tweeted the message, "Thanks for letting us be part of the healing! We love you all, g & T." All-in-all, the show was a massive hit, and fans are already asking for another!
Not everyone could make it to the show, sadly, so some wanted another to make up for their loss. "I missed it," tweets one user, adding "Will they be back on anytime in the near future?" Another had a more humorous reason to appeal for another show, stating "Please, please do another show. My husband was singing so loudly that I could not hear you."
