Our 'Game of Thrones' Season 8 predictions on the fate of the show's top 11 characters
Winter is here, and the Night King has already broken The Wall. With that, HBO's finale season of 'Game of Thrones' will be about the final quest to save the living and conquer the throne. However, while the show is merely a day away, let's look at what we can predict about some of the most popular characters on the show:
1. Gregor Clegane (The Mountain) (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson)
A Clegane bowl will surely set the field for the ultimate face-off between the two brothers and by the looks of it chances are the younger Clegane brother will finally seek his revenge from The Mountain for burning his face in the fire. The Hound has always told the story about how The Mountain was an epitome of merciless misgivings and being a victim to his wrath himself. He is aware that The Mountain can be a threat for anyone other than the Lannisters. Chances are when Cersei is taken off the thrones, The Hound will pounce on his brother and rip him off one final time.
2. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey)
Perhaps this is one prediction which will come true since Cersei is already destined to die at the hands of her younger brother. Although Tyrion has never shared a special bond with her, he does not intend on killing Cersei. On the other hand, Jaime has watched her descend to madness and by Season 7, it was quite clear Cersei has come under his radar and he no longer approves of her mad claims. Chances are Jaime will be the one to strangle her to death, just like the witch Maggy had predicted.
3. Jaime Lannister (Nikolej Costar Waldau)
Jaime was notoriously known to be the Kingslayer after he killed the Mad King Targaryen. However, he might have to do it once again considering his sister is now the Mad Queen. Jaime will perhaps kill her before for Winterfell to join the assembled army to defeat the Night King. When that is done, Bran will perhaps reveal Jaime's dirty little secret, and Jon Snow will hang him to death in a charge of treason and the attempted murder of a Stark boy.
4. Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright)
While we all want to know if Bran really is the Night King, chances are he will warp into the past and become the Night King himself. If that happens, chances are the Night King in the present will lose the battle since Bran will clearly not let him gather an army. We also know that the Wall was built by one Bran, who too was a cripple, and perhaps that was just one of Bran's many journeys to the past to prevent the Night King from his errands.
5. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner)
She has a chance of being alive when everything else is done. Although she does not have a rightful claim to the throne, she might just be the last standing ruler in the North, thus becoming the Queen in the North. However, in case she does develop a relationship with Robert Baratheon's bastard son, Gendry, Sansa might have a chance to sit on the throne. Yet, considering the amount of hold she has in the North she will perhaps choose to remain there and rule the North as a free Queen.
6. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams)
Arya's chances of survival appear to be rather bleak. The teaser trailer, 'Crypts of Winterfell', itself shows her statue standing in the crypt at the exact same age she is in. Also, the trailer opens with Arya frantically running through the dungeons perhaps trying to escape something, while she is drenched in blood. However, she might also become Faceless once again and leave everything behind once the War is done to travel beyond Westeros and see foreign lands.
7. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage)
Known as Tywin's bastard, whose mother had died at childbirth, chances are Tyrion might just turn out to be a Targaryen. His amiable relationship with the dragons have not gon amiss by fans, and while the dragons are infamous for their rude nature they were incredibly friendly towards Tyrion the first time he had tried to befriend them. Also, Tyrion might be the Valinquar to kill Cersei after he realizes that she is no longer the arrogant sister he had but a murderous woman.
8. Samwell Tarly (John Bradley)
He was sent off to the Citadel to find out about ways to kill the Night King and now he has done so, Samwell is in Winterfell. Here he learned that Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen, and perhaps once Jon returns Sam will be the one to blurt out the news to him. Keeping this aside Sam might have a major role to play in defeating the Night King since he was the one to inform Jon that only Dragon Glass can kill the White Walkers.
9. Jon Snow (Kit Harrington)
Jon will certainly be caught off guard once it is told to him that he is actually a Targaryen but chances are he will remain true to the house which has brought him up. He might step down from his place as the King in the North, but Jon will fight for Winterfell until his last breath. If he manages to survive the Great War chances are he will remain loyal to Daenerys and help her get the throne, but after that, he will perhaps join Arya to venture into the lands beyond Westeros.
10. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke)
This point onwards the fate of the Mother of Dragons might go in any direction. She might just become a White Walker and join hands with the Night King to fight the living, alongside her three dragons or she might actually get her throne. Whatever it may be, it will be interesting to watch Daenerys fight against her son, Viserion who is now serving the Night King. What is most anticipated is Daenerys' baby boy who might just turn to be Azor Ahai.
11. Ghost
Ghost is perhaps the only direwolf left in Winterfell. Although we did catch a glimpse of Nymeria in Season 7, there are fewer chances she will return in Season 8. As for Ghost, he will certainly fight alongside Jon in the Great War and chances are he will die. Even worse, Ghost might also turn into a White Walker like Viserion. In case it turns in another way, Ghost will be the only animal symbolizing the Starks of the North, thus becoming the pet of the ruling king or queen.
He is coming back to us in a few days 😩😭 Ghost and Jon Snow reunion is one of the moments that I'm looking forward the most for season 8.
