'Game of Thrones' season 8 fan theories debunked after episode 2; Bran is not the Night King!

Among the many fan theories about 'Game of Thrones' season 8, here are the ones that were debunked after episode 2.

One of the most interesting aspects of following a show such as 'Game of Thrones' is the fan theories that are spun depending on the show's previous season, the easter eggs spotted in trailers, first looks and even hints picked up from star interviews. Certain theories gain so much popularity among fandom that many expect the show to follow the route of their favorite fan theory. Case in point is the most popular theory that Bran Stark is, in fact, the Night King. By revealing why the Night King is after him, Bran quashed any rumors about him being the king of the undead in the second episode of 'Game of Thrones' season 8. So here are a few other favorite fan theories that can now be buried.

Sansa and Gendry end up together

This Reddit fan theory by u/zmphotojournal which was upvoted 83%, theorizes that Sansa Stark and  Gendry could end up together. This was based on how Ned had told Sansa that she should be with “someone that is strong, and wise, and brave" and weighs in the current circumstances to come to the conclusion that Gendry is the possible candidate. After that sex scene between Gendry and Arya in Episode 2 of season 8, however, we doubt that Gendry would want to be with Arya's sister.

 Bran is the Night King

The theory of Bran possibly being the Night King is one of the most discussed fan theories on Reddit. In essence, this theory suggests that since Bran can look into the past and also manipulate it, he might attempt to stop from the Night King ever being created and in the process change history in a way which would result in him becoming the Night King. This theory caught on so much that people not only compared what the Night King and Bran were wearing but also pointed out physical similarities. Bran, however, quashed these rumors when he confessed that the Night King wanted to kill him because he holds the key to mankind's history as the three-eyed raven and if he were erased then the Night King would be able to rule over the realm with ease.

Jaime Lannister will die while trying to save Bran, because 'Game of Thrones' is all about poetic justice

This theory posted in 2017 by u/Phillip-Jacobs and now been reestablished by others and theorizes that Jaime Lannister will die trying to protect Bran from the white walkers. In episode 2 of season 8, however, we saw Jaime pledge allegiance to fight under Brienne of Tarth while Theon took the responsibility to guard Bran in Godswood. So the possibility of Jaime sacrificing his life for Bran is low.

Yara might want Theon to kill her instead of being rescued

Reddit user u/This_The_Last_Time posted this theory about Yara a year ago which guesses at how Theon's sister might be beyond saving after everything that Euron Greyjoy, their uncle, put her through. So, the user suggested that she might ask Theon to end her life instead of saving her and this theory received 93% upvote. It was debunked in the last episode when we see that Theon does not just rescue her, but leaves her in charge before leaving to Winterfell to fight in the war against white walkers.
