The parents of Gabby Petito have sought to bring Brian Laundrie’s parents under oath so they can question them regarding their daughter’s tragic death. RadarOnline citing legal documents claimed that Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt have submitted their request to the court as they want to hear the Laundries’ side of the story directly from them.

It has been said that the papers were filed on July 29, 2022, in Florida’s Sarasota County. The grieving parents of the murdered vlogger are reportedly eager to interrogate the Laundries on October 20. They want to first bring down Christopher Laundrie at 10 am before Roberta Laundrie.

The legal documents noted, “These depositions are being taken for the purposes of discovery, or use at trial, and for all other purposes as are permitted under the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.” The Laundries’ depositions "may continue until completed”. RadarOnline also added that “the judge won't have to sign off on Joseph and Nichole's request, however, the Laundries can file to push their deposition date back if they want to.”

This comes after a judge ruled that Gabby’s family's lawsuit against Brian’s parents will go for a jury trial in 2023. The young woman’s parents sued their daughter’s late boyfriend and his family for allegedly hiding the truth about her murder. They also accused the Laundries’ lawyer of issuing a false statement of finding her alive despite knowing she was dead. However, "each and every allegation" was refuted by the other side.

For the unversed, Gabby embarked on a cross-country journey with Brian in July 2021. But she suddenly disappeared and in September, she was reported missing. A search operation was initiated but it ended horrifically with the discovery of her body in Wyoming. She died due to manual strangulation and her death was deemed a homicide.

However, before Brian could be approached for interrogation, he was also found missing. In October 2021, his remains were found with a self-inflicted gunshot injury. Alongside his body, a few of his items were also discovered, including a diary. Eventually, it was disclosed that the young man murdered Gabby and mentioned it in his journal.

In his apparent confession, Brian had claimed that Gabby was suffering after collapsing in a creek. He wrote, “I found her breathing barely, gasping, she was freezing cold, we had just come from the blazing hot national parks in Utah. The temperature had dropped to freezing and she was soaking wet. I carried her as far as I could down the stream towards the car, stumbling, exhausted in shock, when I knew I couldn't safely carry her.”

“When I pulled Gabby out of the water she couldn't tell me what hurt. She had a small bump on her forehead that eventually got larger. Her feet hurt, her wrist hurt, but she was freezing, shaking violently, while carrying her she continually made sounds of pain. She would wake in pain, start her whole painful cycle again, furious that I was the one waking her. She wouldn't let me try to cross the creek, thought like me that the fire would go out in her sleep. I don't know the extent of Gabby's injuries, only that she was in extreme pain. I ended her life. I thought it was merciful,” Brian had written in his journal.
