Gabby Petito's mother addresses Brian Laundrie in first tweet: 'Turn yourself in'
In her first-ever tweet, Nicole Schmidt, Gabby Petito's mother, demanded that Brian Laundrie turn himself in. “Mama bear is getting angry!” Nichole Schmidt wrote. “Turn yourself in!”. She further wrote, “@josephpetito agrees”, accompanied by the hashtags '#justiceforgabby' and '#americasdaughter'. The tweet gathered 7.4K likes and 1.1K retweets within the first two hours. This tweet comes as a massive manhunt for Brian Laundrie, a 'person of interest' in Gabby Petito's case, is underway.
Schmidt also retweeted a photo of Gabby and her stepmother, Tara Petito, originally shared by Gabby's father Joseph Petito, and a picture of Gabby as a child, shared by Gabby's stepfather, Jim Schmidt. Nicole Schmidt's Twitter account was created in 2021, and her bio reads, "A mom on a mission, the fight for change and prevention will never end! My Gabby will never be forgotten!"

During a press conference on Tuesday, September 28, the 22-year-old vlogger's parents revealed matching tattoos, the same she had herself. 'Let it Be' followed by a wave is what Gabby had on her right arm and now all four of her parents do too. "We don’t stop remembering Gabby and fighting for other people like her," Gabby Petito's stepfather, Jim Schmidt, said in a statement. Gabby's mother Nicole Schmidt said that they got the tattoos as she wanted Gabby "with me all the time." "I wanted to have her with me all the time. I hope people are inspired by her. She’s touched so many lives already. We're so proud of her. We’re going to keep the light going and help a lot of people if we can, " she said.
A massive manhunt to nab Brian Laundrie is now underway. Investigators are on the lookout for Laundrie around a wildlife refuge near his home in North Port. Laundrie vanished soon after Gabby Petito went missing and Petito's body was discovered days later and her death was ruled a homicide. Social media has since been slamming Laundrie's parents, accusing them of helping him escape and not cooperating with police by concealing their son's whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the family attorney of Brian Laundrie's parents has said that Chris and Roberta Laundrie are not aware of their son's whereabouts. “Chris and Roberta Laundrie do not know where Brian is,” attorney Steven Bertolino said in a statement. “They are concerned about Brian and hope the FBI can locate him.” “The speculation by the public and some in the press that the parents assisted Brian in leaving the family home or in avoiding arrest on a warrant that was issued after Brian had already been missing for several days is just wrong,” he added.
