NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Senator Mitt Romney declared in a November 24 interview with CBS’ Norah O’Donnell his openness to voting for a Democrat in the 2024 presidential race, citing it as an "upgrade" from former President Donald Trump.

A prominent critic of Trump within the GOP, Romney has frequently clashed with the former president. Despite this, Trump remains the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican Party nomination for the White House.

In response to Romney's comments, Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham criticized the senator on X. Numerous users on the platform joined Ingraham in condemning Romney, labeling him a 'sore loser.'

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “This headline about Sen. “Liz”Romney is the least shocking thing you’ll read today.”

Ingraham’s tweet presented an article from Axios titled, “Romney: Most Democrats would be an "upgrade" from Trump.”

In the article, Senator Mitt Romney was noted for expressing support for any other Republican in the presidential race while indicating a willingness to vote for a Democrat as an “upgrade” over Donald Trump.

Romney stated, “I'd be happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans, maybe not Vivek [Ramaswamy], but the others that are running would be acceptable to me, and I'd be happy to vote for them.”

He continued, “I'd be happy to vote for a number of the Democrats, too. I mean, it would be an upgrade, in my opinion, from Donald Trump and perhaps also from Joe Biden.”

Romney clarified that he has no intentions of running for president in 2024, emphasizing that he would not pursue an independent candidacy either.

He humorously added, "Perhaps if Godzilla comes in and removes all the other candidates and so forth."

Internet dubs Mitt Romney ‘sore loser’

After Fox News host Laura Ingraham mocked Mitt Romney for his willingness to vote for Democrat as an upgrade from Donald Trump, the internet took a brutal jab at the senator.

One person wrote, “Romney is a fraud and a phony,” and another added, “And yet a rock or dead houseplant would be an upgrade from Romney.”

An X user simply called out Romney, “Mitt's grapes are still extremely sour,” and another said, “Coming from an actual Democrat pretending to be a Republican.”
