Fox News host Jessica Tarlov slams 'The Five' host Greg Gutfeld for comparing crime in the country to slavery
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In the past few days, America has gone through major events, including a dodged nationwide government shutdown.
This was followed by the House voting in favor of ousting Speaker Kevin McCarthy, stirring further the blame game between the Democrats and Republicans.
'The Five' host Greg Gutfeld criticized the House for not prioritizing other concerns like crime in the country and instead focusing on the ousting the speaker, comparing the situation to the Civil War.
Jessica Tarlov went on to slam his analogy, pointing out that the two were "incomparable".
Greg Gutfeld draws an analogy between surging crime and slavery
The conversation around the government spending and the impending shutdown came in relation to the killing of an activist, indicating the serious concerns of crime in NYC.
Host Greg Gutfeld went on to compare the situation of criminal activities to slavery, suggesting that Democrats will cause a war similar to the Civil War "to bring peace".
He admitted that the point he was going to make was "a little controversial" and said, "We fought a war to end slavery, and why? Because apparently, we couldn't decide to end it peacefully."
Gutfeld drew a strange analogy between the Democrats' ideology from around a century ago to now, saying that they are supporting a "moral evil".
"We knew it was a moral evil yet we allowed ourselves to engage in a war to end it because the Democrats clung to it," he said.
"Doesn't that sound familiar now?... It's [Crime] a moral evil that the left is okay with. It's almost as if we're gonna have to fight a war to bring peace. It's scary," he added.
Jessica Tarlov shuts down Greg Gutfeld on slavery analogy
Tarlov, the designated "liberal" on the panel of 'The Five', came in to argue with Gutfeld's analogy.
"There is nothing comparable going on right now to slavery," she noted.
Gutfeld defended himself and said, "Analogy is always imperfect. That's an analogy."
"Well, I think it's so imperfect that perhaps it shouldn't have been made in this case," Tarlov commented, pointing out that slaves were subjected to cruel acts like bondage.
"Well, I wouldn't do it again," Gutfeld joked, to which, Tarlov said, "That is a lie, You will probably do it again today."
