Fox News' Dana Perino rants about Joe Biden talking 'largely about Ukraine' and not Israel during national address
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden made a national address from the Oval Office soon after his visit to Israel on the recent events worsening the state of war in the region.
While his address touched upon several ongoing issues that are growing concerns amongst the American population, Fox News anchor Dana Perino was left disappointed in it.
Perino noted that instead of discussing more important things, the President's larger focus was limited to Ukraine.
Dana Perino says Joe Biden's speech pages were mixed up
Perino was asked to share her take on the national address on a special report hosted by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
"I actually didn't think [Biden's address] was strong," the anchor said.
"I prepared all day to love this speech I prepared to wanna stand up and cheer. And at times, I felt like we are reading a speech whose pages had been mixed up out of order," she added.
Perino then pointed out the specific areas in which Biden's speech lacked.
"I thought that he didn't spend enough time talking about the atrocities of October 7th," she continued, referring to the Hamas attack on Israel.
"He does have a definite, deep understanding of the pain and he is definitely against anti-semitism both abroad and at home. But he rushed that part of the speech so much and the next thing I know, we're talking about Ukraine and then kinda back to Israel -- Wait, are you going to bring in Taiwan as well? I thought there was going to be something about the Southern Border," Perino said.
She then went on to propose suggestions that in her opinion would have made the speech stronger.
Dana Perino suggests Joe Biden should have called out 'terrorist attacks'
Perino specified that she wanted Biden to address the terrorism around the world over just a discussion about the Russian-Ukraine war.
"This speech was largely written about Ukraine," Perino repeated.
"That's a good speech for him to give. I think what I would have done tonight in the Oval Office address is to say: I'm here to talk to you about the atrocities of the terrorist attacks," she said.
She also added, "We are in a fight between civilization and barbarism and it's not just happening in Israel, it's happening in these parts of the world and point those out."
Perino then jumped to the concern of the funding for these wars and the absence of a Speaker during such crucial events.
"At the end of the speech, I think he could have said, 'I will be going to Congress on Monday. I will make everybody sit together even though they don't have a Speaker right now. And I will make them listen to me and I'm going to make this pitch for the money because we need to take this very seriously," Perino said.
