NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The countdown to the next GOP presidential debate has already commenced, and after criticism over unruliness at the first debate, many are interested in seeing how the moderators will manage the candidates this time around.

Dana Perino is one of the three who will be questioning the presidential hopefuls on the America they wish to achieve if they were given a term. Fox News Media's Stuart Varney and Univision's Ilia Calderon are the other moderaters.

The Fox News host recently did an interview with the New York Times that looked at her journey so far as a significant personality in the American political landscape.

Dana Perino looks back on her work in the White House

Before becoming a political commentator on Fox News, Perino had a susbtantial place in the White House as the press secretary for former president George W Bush. She was also one of the employees present when the infamous Baghdad conference happened in 2008 when Bush was attacked by a journalist.

The interview revealed that Perino had a major impact on the way the press treated the president when she was a secretary. This was shared by one of Bush's counselors as they said that "every single question would be one that Dana said would come" when she prepared the president for the conferences.

Dana Perino plans to be strict during the GOP debate

The Fox News host came forward to say that the first GOP debate was quite a disappointing affair as the candidates resorted to breaking rules and the moderators failed to control them.

The NYT piece revealed that she would be a lot stricter, like a "schoolmarm", to have things in order during the second edition of the debate.

“I think that for them, they should not want that either, right, because it didn’t help them," Perino said, "If you think about that debate, there was no consensus of who won.”

Dana Perino praised for not siding with Trump for ratings

The article also repeatedly reminded that Perino has not really chosen sides. Unlike her co-hosts on the network, Perino has maintained an ambiguous position on her political leanings while she confronts every segment with facts regardless of which party would favor her take.

She was also mentioned to have not sided with Trump just to get a boost in ratings, and has chosen to stick to what she thinks is right or wrong.

When asked about his absence from the debates, she responded with a positive outlook for the rest of the GOP leaders as it "presents his rivals with opportunities to break out in ways that have eluded them so far."
