NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Wednesday, October 4, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, “opted to waive a litany of laws and regulations to swiftly construct more border wall in a key Texas hotspot for illegal crossings,” as reported by Sean Hannity.
Mayorkas is citing an “acute and immediate need” to waive dozens of federal laws in order to build a border wall in south Texas.
Mayorkas also added that he is utilizing the authority granted by Congress to waive 26 federal laws, which include significant acts such as the Clean Air Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
However, this stands in stark contrast to the initial dismissals of employing such barriers during the early days of the administration.
Following this event, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity took to X (formerly Twitter) to update his followers on Mayorkas’ decision and what President Joe Biden and ex-POTUS Donald Trump had to say about this.

In his tweet, he posted an article from Hannity’s official website titled, “IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WON'T COME! Mayorkas Flips on Border Wall, Wants One Up ASAP!”
In the article, a statement is provided which reads from a notice posted to the US Federal Registry obtained by Fox News, “The Secretary of Homeland Security has determined, pursuant to law, that it is necessary to waive certain laws, regulations, and other legal requirements in order to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers and roads in the vicinity of the international land border in Starr County, Texas.”
It was also reported that “certain laws” refers to 26 federal laws and as stated by Mayorkas in the notice, “There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas.”
However, Mayorkas’ idea of building a wall has not been taken well by environmental activists.
“A plan to build a wall through will bulldoze an impermeable barrier straight through the heart of that habitat. It will stop wildlife migrations dead in their tracks,” commented Laiken Jordahl, a southwest conservation advocate for the Center for Biological Diversity on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 4.
He added, “It will destroy a huge amount of wildlife refuge land. And it’s a horrific step backwards for the borderlands.”

Following Mayorkas’ decision, Sean Hannity reflected on President Joe Biden’s promise back in 2020 and trolled him on X as he wrote, “Walk with us down memory lane...”

Biden in 2020 said, “There will not be another foot of wall constructed in my administration!”
However, today, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, under President Biden's administration, declared an "immediate need" to construct over 20 miles of border wall in Texas, invoking his authority to waive 26 federal laws.
Hannity also featured a video clip of Biden back in 2020 on his website, titled, “LYIN' JOE: Remember the 'Not Another Foot of Wall' Promise? Let's Enjoy That Clip Together [WATCH]”
Sean Hannity reports on Donald Trump's reaction to building new wall
Former President Donald Trump reacted to Mayorkas’ notice about building 20+ miles of new wall in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.
He reportedly slammed Joe Biden’s inaugural promise, accusing him of “turning our country into one giant sanctuary for dangerous criminal aliens.”
Hannity took to X to report on Trump’s bashing at Biden and wrote, “TRUMP: "Biden sees our country is being invaded. What is he going to do about the 15 million people from prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums, and terrorists that have already come into our country?"

He posted Trump’s statement from the interview on his website in an article titled, “TRUMP WAS RIGHT: DHS Building Wall, Trump Torches Joe, 'He Sees We're Being Invaded'.”
In the interview, the former POTUS candidly went against Biden asking, “What has happened to our country?” and claimed that Biden administration needs to “go back to Trump policies.”
He further added, “He has to reinstate Remain in Mexico and Title 42. He has to do all of the other things that we were doing.”
While talking to Fox News Digital on Wednesday, October 4, Trump’s campaign spokesperson said, “President Trump is always right.”
The spokesperson further added, “That’s why he built close to 500 miles of powerful new wall on the border and it would have been finished by now. Instead, Crooked Joe Biden turned our country into one giant sanctuary for dangerous criminal aliens.”
