Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto slams Trump for attacking network: 'We don't work for you'

"First of all, Mr. President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you. My job is to cover you, not fawn over you or rip you, just report on you. Call balls and strikes on you. My job, Mr. President, our job here, is to keep the scores, not settle scores," Cavuto said

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto slammed Donald Trump Thursday after the president tweeted "Fox isn't working for us anymore" in a series of tweets. Trump, in his tweets, also accused the network of "promoting the Democrats through their DNC Communications Director, spewing out whatever she wanted with zero pushback by anchor, @SandraSmithFox."

Trump, over the past few weeks, has become noticeably critical of anchor Shephard Smith and analyst Juan Williams, calling them "hopeless and clueless." Cavuto slammed the president in his segment and said it was "weird" the president is getting "sick" of the network because he believes Trump gets "pretty fair coverage on Fox."

"First of all, Mr. President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you. My job is to cover you, not fawn over you or rip you, just report on you. Call balls and strikes on you. My job, Mr. President, our job here, is to keep the scores, not settle scores," Cavuto said.

"It is called being fair and balanced, Mr. President, yet it is fair to say you're not a fan when that balance includes stuff you don't like to hear or facts you don't like to have questioned," Cavuto continued. The Fox News anchor also went on to list things Trump has done or said that were fact-checked on the network, including one instance where a top Trump trade adviser called tariffs a "wonderful thing," when the president said Mexico would pay for a wall along the U.S. southern border, the president flip-flopping on gun background checks, him ordering former White House counsel Don McGahn to fire special counsel Robert Mueller and the president seemingly questioning the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential elections.

Cavuto, during his segment, said: "These aren't fake items, they're real items and you really said them. Just like you never paid to silence a porn star until it turns out you did," Cavuto said as a photo of adult film star Stormy Daniels was displayed on-screen. “Fake is when it’s wrong, Mr. President.” Cavuto stated. “Not when it’s unpleasant."

"Hard as it is to fathom, Mr. President, just because you're the leader of the free world, doesn't entitle you to a free pass, just a free press. Goodnight," Cavuto concluded in his segment.
