Fox host Jeanine Pirro says she is 'offended by the transgenders' as she expresses concern over equity in sports
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The Five' host Jeanine Pirro ended up slamming trans women as she commented on the recent field hockey accident in Massachusetts.
The Fox News anchor expressed her opposition to the inclusion of individuals of different genders on the same sports team. She argued that men should not be permitted to compete alongside women due to inherent differences in physical abilities.
Massachusettes team calls for girls-only team after accident
A mixed-gender field hockey team endured a distressing incident when one of their female players sustained severe injuries during a match against their male counterparts.
During a girls vs boys game, one of the male players inadvertently struck the victim in the mouth, resulting in her losing several teeth and bleeding.
In accordance with Massachusetts law on equal rights, it is permissible for girls and boys to participate on the same sports team when a specific sport lacks a separate team for boys.
This was the situation with the team named Swampscott, as they did not offer a separate field hockey option for boys.
The female players have demanded the removal of the boys from their team and the establishment of a distinct boys' field hockey league, according to CBS News.
Jeanine Pirro 'offended' by trans players on women's team
In her response to this news, Pirro initiated her commentary by criticizing transgender women who have been granted permission to compete in women's sports.
"They're basically saying that the equal rights amendment says you cannot deny participation in a team based upon gender," the host said.
"So, to me, I've always been offended by the transgenders. I've always been offended by the Lia Thomas swimming as woman against women."
Pirro here is referring to the well-known young swimmer and trans woman Lia Thomas who has been consistently under fire, especially by the conservatives, for playing her sport against cis women.
Jeanine Pirro claims Massachusetts hockey accident could be intentional
Pirro further shared her thoughts on the accident, saying men should not be allowed to play alonside women.
"But this is worse because you are not swimming in your own lane," she continued, "This is literally combat and these men who, historically are stronger than women, that's the end of it. Being allowed to compete with women in this kind of sport is dangerous and I'm not surprised at what happened."
She speculated that the male player who made the shot might have done it intentionally, stating, "I'm sure she was wearing a mouthguard. Apparently, her injuries were so horrible whether it was an accident or a guy who's so confident 'I'm gonna show this woman how to play.'"
Pirro then continued, "The whole stadium apparently was traumatized by what happened. She lost teeth, she was all full of blood. This is very serious."
She went on to assert, "So, you've got men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse. You've got field hockey. Let the men do their own field hockey. And in a situation where there is combat, men should not be allowed to play in women's sports."
