Four from a family of five were pronounced dead on scene and their teenage son currently battling for life in a hospital in Switzerland in what can be considered a possible group suicide. Police and officials say it appears that they jumped from the apartment building in the Swiss Resort, Montreux located on Lake Geneva.

On Thursday, March 24, this French family was found at the bottom of their seven floored building. It is believed that the step they took is in connection to the fact that officers tried to execute an arrest warrant over home schooling a child.

The four victims, a 40-year old man (the father), a 41-year old woman (the mother), her twin sister (the aunt), and the 8-year old daughter of the couple were pronounced dead at the spot. On the other hand, the couple's 15-year-old boy was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. A spokesperson of the police, Alexandre Bisenz said that this family jumped from their apartment near the lakeside casino of the town.

Another witness added that they saw the four members lying on the ground without shoes on before calling the police. Police also say that this incident occured right after two officials arrived at the location in order to execute an arrest warrant for the father over home schooling one of the children on Thursday, March 24.

When the officers arrived, they knocked the door and were posed with the question asking who they were. When the cops answered, the apartment went silent. After unsuccessful attempts to establish any contact, the officers left. However, to their surprise, during this time, a witness called to inform the police that people had fallen from an apartment balcony.

Police spokespeson Jean Christophe Sauterel told, "We do not know yet whether they fell or if this drama was due to other circumstances." The investigation is on going but the police have determined that there was no one else in the apartment at that time. Currently, forensics are collecting samples from the seventh floor balcony. Police also believe that no other party was involved and are yet to confirm if the family jumped of fell.

Neighbours noted that the family was quiet and always kept to themselves. One even said that there had been a strong smell of incense coming from the family's apartment for the past few days. The family had arrived in Montreux from France about two years ago.
