Ex-WWE star Alberto Del Rio raped, thrashed woman for hours after tying up and gagging her with sock: Police
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio has been arrested after being accused of brutally beating and raping a woman and threatening her child.
The incident had taken place earlier this month and 42-year-old Del Rio, whose real name is Jose A Rodriguez Chucuan, had posted a $50,000 bond on Sunday, May 10, after being arrested and taken to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.
According to the police affidavit, the former WWE star was charged with felony sexual assault, WOAI revealed. The victim had brought the incident to the attention of authorities with photographs alleging that he had beaten her up and also sexually assaulted her.
The women confided with investigators that this was not the first time that Del Rio had assaulted her and it had happened on more than one occasion, court documents reveal. The most recent assault had taken place on May 3 after he suspected the victim of infidelity.
The victim revealed that Del Rio became enraged when she did not admit to the infidelity. He then began to slap her across the head and dragged her to his bedroom downstairs and hit her at least eight more times, the arrest paperwork stated.
The affidavit stated that the unnamed woman also shared how Del Rio forced her to put on a dress and dance for him and when she refused, he threatened her saying he would take her son and "drop him off in the middle of the road somewhere."
Del Rio also allegedly tied the woman's hands using boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and then sexually assaulted her. The victim said that he used "objects" during the long sexual assault which went on for over a few hours. He also punched the woman on her back and she had injuries consistent with her story.
The victim told investigators how she does not remember much after he put his hands around her throat and seemingly choked her.
Back in 2017, Del Rio was involved in a domestic battery case during an incident that took place at the Orlando International Airport, TMZ had revealed. The case involved Del Rio's former girlfriend Paige, who is also a wrestler.
Orlando PD had been contacted after Del Rio allegedly roughed up Paige. Witnesses saw the pair arguing in the terminal and when the situation escalated, they called the police to intervene and stop the couple.
According to one witness, "There was an altercation." At the time, Paige had defended Del Rio and had said that he had never laid a hand on her.
Del Rio had been a big hit on WWE and had also won the WWE Championship twice. He had also been the winner and title bearer of the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the US title, the Money in the Bank match as well as the Royal Rumble.
He had left the franchise in 2016 and had spent the last few years moving around the independent circuit. It was reported earlier that the WWE alum was in talks about making a possible comeback for a third and final time in March.
