EASTON, MARYLAND: A former Maryland hospital employee was arrested for allegedly recording himself while sexually assaulting an unconscious patient. Travis Brooks, 35, was arrested on August 11 on charges including rape and abuse of a vulnerable and unconscious patient.

The sickening incident occurred at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, NY Post revealed. It has also been reported that Brooks had stolen credit cards from patients. The police started to investigate Brooks, who had been employed at the hospital, after a patient complained that money was stolen from her wallet while she was having a procedure done in April. Brooks had been identified as a suspect and it was found that he had been taking photos of patients' credit cards, the authorities revealed.

Upon executing several search warrants, the authorities had found a video taken by Brooks which shows him sexually assaulting a patient who had been unconscious back in December last year. Besides the sexual assault offenses, Brooks is also going to be facing charges for theft and misdemeanor drug possession. According to WGXA, Brooks has a long arrest record and had been charged with assault in July 2019 in a different case.

On August 12, the Easton Police were assisted by the Talbot County Sheriff's Office in carrying out a search warrant at Brooks' home in Trappe, Maryland, WMDT reported. He was then arrested and charged with second-degree rape, third and fourth-degree sex offense, vulnerable adult abuse, second-degree assault, two counts of stealing another’s credit card, and eight counts of theft less than $100.

In another similar case that had occurred in Fort Myers, one hospital worker was accused of sucking the toes of a patient. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, 23-year-old Frantz Beldorin was charged of battery on a person who is 65 years or older.

As per the arrest report, a patient who had been admitted to the Gulf Coast Hospital woke up at night to find someone touching their foot. The patient initially thought that it was a nurse checking the swelling on their foot. However, the foot checking had taken place more than twice. The third time it happened, the patient added that they felt something wet in between their toes and when they looked over, they saw Belforin next to the bed, kneeling and bent over the foot.

When the patient pulled their chair back, Beldorin just went back to his chair. The patient then notified a nurse who had alerted security. Beldorin had been working as a 'sitter'. When he was arrested, he had said it was all a misunderstanding, Fox News revealed. "I’m reaching to get my phone, it dropped so when she got up I guess she got startled and it's dark. I can get that from someone else, I don’t have to get that from her," he shared. His mother had said that he had worked at the hospital for four years. The mother said, "Since then he never has a problem and he’s not someone like that."
