The rise and fall of an 'American Idol': Antonella Barba could face 110 years in prison after being indicted for drug running

'American Idol' alum Antonella Barba was arrested in October 2018 in Norfolk, Virginia, on a felony charge of distributing more than 100 grams of heroin.
She was released later in the month and denied the charge by claiming she did not know the drug was in her rented car. Her lawyer, Eric Korslund, had argued at the time that his client was just waiting for a flight to Miami, where she had booked a recording session.
Earlier this week, however, she was indicted on 11 federal charges for allegedly possessing cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl in connection to the incident. If convicted, the 32-year-old faces the possibility of being sentenced to prison for 10 years for each individual charge. A grim prospect for someone who appeared in one of the most watched TV shows in the US, and was navigating her way through the music and entertainment industry.
