After the Capitol riot on January  6, 2021, Forbes Media chief content officer and editor of Forbes Magazine has issued a letter threatening any company that thinks of hiring any of POTUS Donald Trump's White House press secretaries who have worked for him in the past or present. Randall Lane who is the CCO of Forbes Media claimed that he was issuing a "truth reckoning" and listed all of Trump's White House press secretaries in his open letter. He warned companies against hiring the likes of Kayleigh McEnany, Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and others who had worked for the Trump administration.

Lane wrote in an open letter piece which was published on Thursday, January 7, "Let it be known to the business world: Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie."

He did praise former POTUS Barack Obama's press secretary Jay Carney and former president Bill Clinton's press secretary Joe Lockhart as having "left the White House with their reputations in various stages of intact, made millions taking their skills — and credibility — to corporate America."

In response to the Forbes piece, Newsbusters had commented, "This is the same Jay Carney who made a career out of spewing falsehoods on behalf of his former boss. During one 2012 press conference, Carney had said that the rate of government spending under Obama was lower than ‘all of his predecessors since Dwight Eisenhower, including all of his Republican predecessors.’ That false statement earned him a three-Pinocchios rating from Washington Post fact-checker’ Glenn Kessler."

Many social media users took to commenting on the reports and slammed Lane for the same. One such user shared, "So now we are threatening people that had nothing to do with the riot. What a disgrace." Another user shared, "You’re a freakin retard. I wouldn’t wipe my ass with his article. Who do you think you are? You get paid as a content executive and penned this garbage? You’re nothing but a loser with a low IQ."

"Are you f*&king kidding me? You all are wondering who to boycott (McCarthyism), who to trash, who to make sure can't make a living???? This is disgusting and you all should be ashamed of yourselves. Your already making a joke of Biden's theme of America United. #disgusted," yet another added.

Yet another user commented and said, "I am confused. Are people like you and Randall (and others) opposed to politicians lying, or are you ONLY opposed to it when it comes from politicians you dont support?" Another user who echoed the same sentiments added, "What a disgusting person you are. Despite your blatant lies at the end of your article, you know this is politics and you know it’s cancel culture."

Others also slammed Lane such as Independent Women's Forum analyst Kelsey Bolar. While speaking to Fox & Friends, Bolar said, "This is just the latest example of cancel culture and the great purge that we’re seeing come from the left and never-Trump Republicans."

"This dangerous cancel culture, which wants to ban any American who had the audacity to support President Trump or work in his administration from being able to do something as basic as have a new job."
