'For All Mankind' Season 2 will see Ellen (Jodi Balfour) and Danielle (Krys Marshall) get a chance to lead lives as themselves after 10 years and it is no coincidence that the show draws a parallel between them. Both Ellen and Danielle have been shackled by lies and it is time for them to break free of the same.

From the beginning, Ellen was unable to express the fact that she was a lesbian without fearing persecution. At that time, had she come out as being lesbian, her entire career as an astronaut would have gone down the drain and Deke Slayton's (Chris Bauer) last words in the previous season proved as much. To ensure that she was not kicked off the team of first women astronauts, she kept a few secrets.

However, after many tours and returning to take up an administrator's position at NASA that would put her on a fast track to work with Congress, Ellen has changed. She now has to spend time alone while Larry continues to date men. This was something that the two had agreed on, but Ellen had not been able to find someone and this leads to her feeling lonelier. At this time, to get a package from her lover from 10 years ago is indicative of how this time she will be able to come out and lead a happy life with Pam. The question is if Larry will be okay with letting her go.

Then there's Danielle. For the last decade, she's been away from flights, she had taken it in stride when Gordo Stevens hailed as a hero. He brought her back in one piece after an accident while the truth was that Gordo was unable to handle the extended stay on the moon. In fact, he put himself at risk. After Danielle's husband Clayton's death, she has decided that it was time to go back to the moon and that is exactly what she tells Ed Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman) too.

She's thankful for the first tour she gets, without realizing that she deserves better. She deserves better because by now, she would have been heading different flights and operations had it not been for Gordo's mishap. So just giving her a chance to return to the moon is not enough. Interestingly, the one to teach her that it is important to respect herself, want more, and be sure of her self-worth is someone that she usually doesn't agree with.

So will Ed really give her what she wants? Will he be able to convince the others that it was time for NASA to get the first Black woman flight director? Those are questions that we will have to watch to answer.

'For All Mankind' Season 2 episodes will release every Friday on Apple TV+.
