'Gang' of NY cyclists seen smashing BMW with elderly passenger with bikes and punches in terrifying footage

Around 25 cyclists were involved in the attack on Max Torgovnik's car on Fifth Avenue, and which he described as 'a warzone'

Shocking video footage shows a 'gang' of New York cyclists attacking a BMW with their bikes and fists. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested during the terrifying ambush in Manhattan, the New York Post reports. Around 25 cyclists were involved in the attack on Max Torgovnik's car on Fifth Avenue, and which he described as "a warzone". Someone was heard yelling "Get out! Get out!" while Torgovnik and his elderly mother were cowering in the car. A group of 6 cyclists had damaged his car in the ambush which took place in broad daylight.

A large group of young people was caught on film surrounding the car after it had stopped at a junction. 

One person was seen jumping on the car and then kicking the windscreen before later smashing it into pieces. Another person then threw his bike on the bonnet with one even caught bodyslamming and punching the side of the car. Other people were seen kicking the BMW while Torgovnik and his mother were trapped inside. He had been with his mother who is in her 70s when the cyclists pounced on the car on Tuesday, December 29. As reported by The Sun, Torgovnik said, "At that point, I was afraid that they were going to break the window, get in the car, reach in, and pull us out."

His mother immediately called 911 to try and get a police assistant while she screamed, "We’re going to die, they’re going to kill us," Torgovnik said. While speaking after the incident took place on Tuesday, he added, "It’s something that I never expected to happen in New York City."

"That’s something like you would see on the streets of a war zone. I never thought New York would get this bad," he continued. He was eventually able to drive away to safety after the shocking incident. The cyclists had left the scene and fled by the time cops arrived. 

The teenager who was arrested is being charged as a juvenile after allegedly attacking the car. The police have also reportedly identified another teenager that they suspect of being involved in the incident. 

Many social media users took to commenting on the shocking incident in outrage. One such user shared, "Anybody disgusted with this, anyone?! @BilldeBlasio @NYGovCuomo @JumaaneWilliams @NYCSpeakerCoJo oh I forgot, you guys enjoy this..btw, do these bikers have a prior record, just curious..no answer huh?!"

Another one added, "I would have run my car over them as my life was been threatened. No doubt there would be a few bodies in the street." Yet another shared, "And yet again I repeat what @NYCMayor has done to this city is criminal as a public advocate can’t handle this scale and should resign."

"Any comment on this @NYCMayor? Or @NYGovCuomo Perhaps sending a message backing the NYPD and saying acts like this are unacceptable would make some sense?" commented another user. Yet another added, "I’m am so disgusted by this crime. I hope they are caught and held with bail. Mayor de Blasio: no cash bail has emboldened these thugs. All this on your watch. You have ruined our City."
