What is Foam Party Hats?
An idea that first sparked at a wedding, Foam Party Hats soon started selling the funky hats for every occasion. While it was just custom designs at first, the mother-son duo also started selling premade designs. Interestingly, customers not only buy it for humans but for their pets like cats and dogs too.
On the home page of the website, there are numerous categories for weddings, foam wigs, animals, headbands, birthdays, sports and drinks and foods. Not just that, they also claim: "With more than 10 years of creating magnificent hats for our clients, any wild idea that you have in mind, we can create." The official website further reads: "Most of our party hats have started as a special request from a client. Our 300+ party hats have come from wild ideas our clients have imagined that we have materialized with a 100% satisfaction rate."
Who are the founders?
Mother and son entrepreneur duo Manuel and Grace Rojas presented their crazy product to Sharks Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary and Guest Shark Daniel Lubetzky. According to Shark Tank Blog, the idea first sparked when Grace lived in Venezuela and wanted to do something special for her daughter’s wedding during the Hora Loca — a wedding tradition that started in countries like Venezuela, Peru, Argentina and Brazil and has been grabbing more eyeballs in recent times.
Originally designed for her daughter’s wedding, the guests were enthralled to wear it and it soon became a huge hit at the photo booth that night. By the end of the night, she surprisingly got plenty of orders for hats for other celebrations as well, and the hat-making blossomed into a business for her and her son, Manuel. In 2010, the family fled Venezuela and set up the business in Houston, Texas. Manuel then attended the University of Houston, where he studied chemical engineering.
