Florida teacher who filmed herself having sex with teenage student told cops 'she was in love with the boy'
DORAL, FLORIDA: A Florida English teacher has been accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old male teenage student. The alleged sexual abuse was recorded by the boy who took a video.
According to a report by People, Miami-Dade County court records show that Desiree Christina Cartin Rodriguez is facing two counts of lewd and lascivious assault of a child.
According to a local news station, Local 10, authorities had been alerted about the allegations after an employee at the Doral Academy Preparatory School received an anonymous mail.
The police then spoke to the teenager who had alleged that he was in a sexual relationship with Rodriguez. WSVN reported that the boy and Rodriguez had been in an inappropriate relationship since August 2019 and that he had also recorded their encounters on video.
After the footage was reviewed and the people involved were identified, Rodriguez was brought in for questioning and allegedly confessed to the crime on Friday morning.
Doral Police spokesperson Rey Valdes shared, "The young man took the video; the video was not hidden. It wasn’t like it was a hidden camera. She was aware that there was a video. You can clearly tell by the proximity of her face to the camera that she was aware she was being filmed."
Valdes also revealed that Rodriguez had allegedly "admitted to being involved in the relationship, even went as far as telling our detectives she was in love with the boy."
Rodriguez was fired from the school and her picture and information were taken off the school's website.
Before the information was removed, Rodriguez had written to parents saying, "I am thrilled to introduce myself as your child’s English teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. I graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University."
According to court records, Rodriguez has been bonded out of jail and has been scheduled for a court hearing on January 21.
