MIAMI, FLORIDA: A Florida couple was surprised to discover an unwelcome intruder, an iguana, in their home on August 4.

The reptile supposedly crouched in the guest bathroom of the Hollywood couple's home, which they thought was out-of-bounds for the animal.

Even though the Florida man was raised in North Miami and his wife has lived in South Florida for 26 years, they had never encountered an iguana sneaking into their home until the evening of August 4.

How did the iguana enter the Florida man's house?

The Florida man discovered a green iguana lying in the toilet bowl when he raised the seat to use the restroom.

Crystal Collins, the man's wife, said, "We both looked at each other like what are we going to do? I joked about burning the house down but the reality (was) how are we getting this out? Neither of us do lizards," as per CBS News Miami

According to the owner of Iguana Control, Thomas Portuallo, who spoke to CBS News Miami, the reptiles should be contained to one room if they enter a building. This saves time for trappers who would otherwise have to spend a lot of time looking for the animal as they're good at hiding.

How did the Florida man react after seeing the iguana in the toilet bowl?

Reportedly, the sight shook the Florida man as well as his wife, Crystal, who said that he made "funny" noises during the encounter.

Crystal was heard explaining in a cellphone video taken shortly after the finding, "I'm pretty sure he's dead. His eyes are open and he's green. I swear to God if he jumps I will (expletive) die!"

Talking about her husband, Crystal stated, "The sounds that came out of my husband were so funny. We search the cameras in our house to find out if we could get a sound bite of it. It was very manly."

How did the Florida man get rid of the iguana?

The Florid man and his wife texted their friend, who supposedly pulled out the iguana from the toilet bowl, using a garbage bag wrapped around his hand. Furthermore, the couple remarked that they would certainly think about relocating if an iguana or any other reptile returned to their home.

According to the owner of Iguana Control, residents frequently leave windows or doors open, allowing iguanas to enter the homes without anyone noticing.

Portuallo suggested installing mesh wire covers to stop iguanas from entering through rooftop pipes. He also noted that his employees come across incidents of reptiles entering homes through sewers at least once every month.

Similar instance of a Florida man discovering an iguana in his toilet bowl

In an eerily similar incident from May, another Florida man from Hollywood found an iguana in his toilet after hearing "splashing" sounds from the bathroom fixture.

The 58-year-old Florida man, John Riddle, said, "I look down, and I see this frightened-looking reptile looking back at me," to Orlando Sentinel

Reportedly, Riddle "worked up enough nerve to try to grab him" with his bare hands after failing to catch the animal with a pool net.

The iguana was "all the way into the toilet, into the pipe," stated Riddle, recalling the incident, adding, "I couldn’t see any of him."

It eventually emerged from the toilet only to hide behind it. However, Riddle claimed that he was later successful in forcing the reptile out of the house after a bit of a struggle.
