Logic behind putting one shoe inside the locker
Sturrus has listed her six tips for travelers, including what she calls "hotel hacks", in a TikTok video that has gained more than 1.2 million views and 50,000 likes since it was posted a few months ago. One of her best tricks, which happens to be very simple, is to always leave a shoe in a hotel safe. Sturrus suggests that placing one of your shoes inside the hotel safe with your valuable belongings can help you avoid leaving something important behind. The idea is that you're less likely to forget to check the safe for your items if you have to retrieve both of your shoes before leaving the room.
Sturrus said, "Worried about forgetting something from your locker? Put your heel or shoe in it and you won't forget it." According to Sturrus, the idea of leaving something you will need in the hotel safe is not just limited to a single shoe. If you have more than one pair of shoes, you can leave something else in the safe that you know you'll need before leaving the room, like a coat or a toothbrush. The point is to have something important that you can't leave behind alongside your valuable items, so you're reminded to check the safe before you depart.
Other helpful tips for travelers
In addition to the shoe-in-the-safe trick, Sturrus also shared a few other useful hotel hacks in her video. One of them was to use a clothes hanger to pin the curtains together in areas where there are gaps, which can help keep the room dark for a night of better sleep. She also suggests using shower caps to cover the bottoms of shoes before packing them in your suitcase, to prevent any dirt or grime from transferring to your clothes or other belongings. "Shower cap is also very handy for your remote control," she said, adding, "Those things are dirtyyyy."
According to Sturrus, if your international charger breaks, you can use the USB end of the charger and plug it into the TV in your hotel room to charge your devices. Many users on social media were impressed by the tips as one commented, "Heel shoe hack great idea." Someone else said, "Great tips thank you!" A third added, "Wow! These are really cool ideas…. Thanks for sharing!"
