Dave and Jenny Marrs are back with new episodes of ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ and before we analyze the show, let's take a moment to address this sweet couple. The episode starts with Dave surprising Jenny with a new hound dog. Yes! A hound dog to keep the coyotes away. Turns out Jenny’s sleep is disturbed every night when she hears the sheep in the stable. She worries that the coyotes must have got them. Dave’s concern for his wife instantly reminds viewers as to why this couple's renovations are so magical. It’s their love.

Dave and Jenny head over to Troy and Melody’s lake house. They have a 12-year-old daughter, Ali, and they cannot wait to start living at the lake house. Unfortunately, Troy was diagnosed with brain tumor about six years ago and he came out of his sickness partially blind. Since then his attitude towards life is to seize the day or as he said, "carpe diem”.

Troy and Melody completely trust Dave and Jenny with the renovation. With a $3100 budget, they wanted their lake house redone completely with an inviting entry. Inside the house, the kitchen seemed too small so Jenny decided to tear down the wall that separates it from the living room and raise the ceiling. She also gives the wall a blue color to brighten up the space. For the living room, the couple decided to lower the windows to let the sunlight in and take advantage of the beautiful view of the lake house. The guest room adjacent to the living room was an extra space, so the couple decided to turn it into the new entrance to the house. The idea was genius as it changed the look of the house entirely.

For the bathroom, Melody wanted a bathtub and a shower. In order to expand this space, some portion of Troy’s cupboard had to be sacrificed but he didn’t care about that. Dave and Jenny decided to give them a beautiful glass shower with modern lighting and bold tiles.

Ali’s room was probably the most interesting. The 12-year-old had a huge room overlooking the lake and she wanted a space in her room where she could hang out with her friends. Her room, like the rest of the house, turned out beautifully with oak-wood flooring and new glass windows where it was originally a wall and there was a cool hangout spot with sodas and a popcorn machine. What more could a teenager ask for? At one point Jenny said, "I want to be friends with Ali just to hang out in her room." Jenny later said her inspiration for Ali’s room was a movie theater.

Troy didn’t have any ideas about utilizing the outside space. He mentioned that he wanted a little space for himself on the outside. So Dave decided to give him a mini bar with seating and a canoe inverted over it from the ceiling with lights. This was another brilliant idea and that’s probably one of the best things home renovators can do. Give the owner something more when they ask for nothing. Troy’s man cave turned out beautifully.

Jenny found a way to include Melody’s blue and white China for the kitchen decoration. She painted the kitchen cabinets in a lighter shade of blue so that it matches the decoration and the whole thing comes together.

After the complete renovation, the house looked amazing and Troy and Melody were in complete awe. Dave and Jenny decided to carve out an inlay at the entrance of the house that said, “Carpe diem”. The homeowners were overwhelmed with the couple’s brilliance and thoughtfulness.

Watch ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ every Tuesday, October 27, at 8 pm ET/PT on HGTV.
