Ahead of the first presidential debate on Tuesday, September 29, the Trump campaign claimed that his opponent's team requested two breaks, one every 30 minutes, during the 90-minute debate that was free of any commercials.

However, the alleged request was rejected by the re-election campaign of President Donald Trump as a source told Fox News that "our guy doesn't need breaks" and added, "he gives 90-minute speeches all the time." Additionally, the Trump campaign also claimed that they wanted the Biden campaign to allow a third party to inspect the ears of each debater for electronic devices or transmitters before the debate began, which was rejected by the former vice president's team.

"Joe Biden's handlers several days ago agreed to a pre-debate inspection for electronic earpieces but today abruptly reversed themselves and declined. Biden’s handlers have asked for multiple breaks during the debate, which President Trump doesn’t need, so we have rejected that request," Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said. "On top of the refusal to take a drug test, it seems pretty obvious that the Biden team is looking for any safety net they can find in the hours leading up to the debate. With his 47 years as a failed Washington politician, how much help does Biden want?"

Biden's campaign has denied both the claims made by Trump's team. In a call with reporters, Biden's deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield called the Trump campaign’s request about the earpiece inspection "absurd" and also refuted the claim that the campaign had asked for breaks. "His staff seems concerned that he may not do well tonight and they’re already laying the groundwork for how they’re going to lie about why," Bedingfield said. "It is completely absurd. Of course, he’s not wearing an earpiece and we never asked for breaks."

The allegedly baseless claim was highlighted by Fox News host Sean Hannity on Twitter, where he wrote, "NOT A JOKE: Biden Asks For Two Bathroom Breaks During 90 Minute Debate." Regardless of whether there was any authenticity to the claim, Twitter users did not waste any time in pointing fingers at Biden.

"@JoeBiden didn't get his requested bathroom breaks, so do you think he just wet his diaper or did he full on s**t himself?" one of them wrote, while another asked, "Since @JoeBiden didn’t get his bathroom breaks every half hour did he get a catheter?" A third mocked, "You got rocked tonight @JoeBiden! Guess you needed that ear piece and more bathroom breaks. Wow @realDonaldTrump destroyed you." Another wrote, "I think Joe Biden soaked his diaper...he better go get his over due bathroom break." Another remarked, "I think it’s time for @JoeBiden to take a bathroom break so Chris Wallace can change his diaper for him. #Debate2020."

Others who had Biden's back either did not believe the claim made by the Trump campaign or turned the same claim around to mock the president. "No two bathrooms break request from Joe Biden. Cheap propaganda," one said, while another wrote, "Trump doesn't need a bathroom break. He just s**ts his diaper." A person commented, WTF?! Faux News is so desperate they're covering Joe Biden's bathroom breaks? Here's a story faux news... Donald is on drugs. Drugs make you dehydrated and constipated. When you are healthy and hydrate regularly you have to use the bathroom more. So, Biden is healthier than Trump."
