'Fight Like A Girl': Will Quibi show's success prompt WWE to bring back Evolution? Fans sure hope so
Quibi has dropped fresh episodes of 'Fight Like A Girl' and fans are already loving it. Some are even demanding a return of WWE Evolution, a women's professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event, which was discontinued owing to lackluster Q1 2019 earnings. Evolution was held in October 2018.
'Fight Like A Girl' is a short-form content that will highlight the lives of budding wrestlers and how they are able to overcome hurdles with the help of WWE superstars — Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Alexa Bliss, Sonya Deville, Natalya Neidhart and Nia Jax.
After the first three episodes were released on the Quibi app, Stephanie McMahon shared a tweet about the same, which prompted fans to demand Evolution 2.
The first one drew unimpressive numbers, which was why there were hardly any talks of the network ordering the second installment. Another reason why bosses at WWE were hesitant towards renewing the season was that superstar Ronda Rousey was missing in action and they believed that her acts brought most of the crowd. So, hosting a second season without her would only fall flat.
Interestingly, Becky disagreed with the idea and said that Evolution was one of the best PPVs of the year and that Evolution 2 can definitely exist without Ronda. "I think we have a strong enough women’s division (without Rousey), as long as they tell the stories around us and let us go. And… that’s all I’ll say," the pro-wrestler told Wrestling News in an interview.
Meanwhile, viewers have praised the show and are calling it binge-worthy. "It was soo good. Truly inspiring in every way #Evolution2," a viewer tweeted, while another shared: "Great series! Binged the first 3 episodes already."
"Congrats! Another amazing way to showcase how incredible the Women’s Evolution in professional wrestling really is," a user said. "You all are awesome and totally rule the wwe," another wrote.
"Finished #FightLikeAGirl and OMG am I inspired thank you to @Quibi and @WWE for creating this series," a viewer posted.
