'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 6 Episode 5: Negan continues to haunt Dwight and Sherry, will they ever reunite?
The latest episode of 'Fear the Walking Dead' was another stellar one, pulsing with quiet intensity. It was focussed on Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) — their reunion and their decision to part ways. The reason to seperate again was made by Sherry, as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) became the barrier between the two.
Negan's reign of terror from the originals series of 'The Walking Dead' continues to cast a shadow over their relationship. For those who might need a litte refreshing, Negan in his early ruthless and merciless days before he got a redemption arc, was responsible for the misery that befell the two. In fact in Season 6 of TWD, after Sherry's sister Tina dies and Negan's men being killed, Sherry offers to marry Negan and become one of his wives, so that he can spare Dwight's life. Negan agrees but feels this isn't entirely enough torture for a lifetime and burns Dwight's face with an iron in front of Sherry, disfiguring him for life. This traumatises Sherry and she is filled with inexplicable guilt. Later, she leaves a long note to Dwight and apologises to him for making him join Negan's world and that she would prefer to battle it out on her own, rather than join the saviours. An emotional Dwight tells Negan that Sherry was killed by Walkers and that Negan should stop pursing her.
This ovewhelming feeling of guilt in Sherry resurfaces in 'Fear the Walking Dead'. Their reunion is joyful, only for a while. They meet Morgan (Lennie James) and have to wrack their brains on how to get Virginia (Colby Minifie) out of the picture for good. Both the sides have differing opinions that causes internal strife, leading Sherry to take matters into her own hands. She decides to take Virginia down on her own, only for Dwight to talk her out of at it at the end of the episode. Later, a tearful Sherry explains to Dwight that Negan's horrors are still haunting her, and that she could have done something. to save him. "I could have done something, a hundred time," she says.
"We cannot change the past, not me or you," Dwight tells her. "I want to be with you, but not like this, before people try to change us into something we weren't. I'm not going to watch that happen." "Then you need to leave," She tells him. At the end of the episode, Dwight leaves a clue for Sherry and hopes that she will find her way back to him.
'Fear the Walking Dead' airs on Sundays at 9 pm on AMC.
