9-yr-old boy with cancer who was 'given weeks' wanted to meet infant sister before dying, says father

Bailey Cooper, 9, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2016, was concerned about not being able to meet his little sister and lived long enough to spend a month with her

Bailey Cooper, a 9-year-old boy suffering from cancer who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2016 and had relapsed for the second time in 2017, was elated when he found out that his mother, Rachel Cooper, was pregnant with a girl. In spite of his terrible condition and constant suffering, the young boy could only think of one thing and that was his baby sister.

31-year-old Lee Cooper, Bailey's father, told PEOPLE: "All he was concerned about was meeting his little sister. Bailey knew something wasn’t right. He could feel it in himself. We got told the news late August that he wasn’t going to survive. We were told it was days to weeks. We were very open with him. He was taking it in… He was thinking, 'Oh no, I won’t meet my sister'."
