The father of murdered 21-year-old Israeli exchange student Aiia Maasarwe has spoken out about her tragic death and was seen crying at a vigil held for his daughter after police announced the capture of a 20-year-old suspect in the case.
Aiia was attacked and killed late at night on Tuesday, January 15, while she was returning home from a night out at North Melbourne's The Comic Lounge. She was found partially naked by window washers in a scrub near the city's Polaris shopping center in the suburb of Bundoora at 7 am the next day, with the graphic nature of the case catching the attention of the nation and drawing furious reactions from citizens and politicians alike.
